Electrical Designer

The role of the Electrical Designer is to design and create control systems for dispensing equipment. The duties include designing the system electrically for the control panel, selecting proper hardware for the system, completing all pertinent documentation, and adhering to a given budget of expenses and hours.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Conduct the electrical design and documentation.
• 
  Design of control panels, creating panel layout drawings for quoting and/or constructing purposes.
• 
  Perform project management functions (budget, schedule, procurement) for the controls portion of the projects. Assist Project Manager with overall project schedule and strictly adhere to all milestone dates.
• 
  Write Descriptions of Operation / Functional Specification for projects utilizing PLC controls.
• 
  Ensure that equipment is designed customer and/or GP Reeves build specifications using standard techniques and approaches.
• 
  Handle support calls.
• 
  Ability to communicate with internal groups of different disciplines as well as external customers and suppliers.
• 
  Overtime may be necessary based on customer orders including weekdays, weekends, and/or holidays.
• 
  Participate in all company functions and meetings.
• 
  Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience:

• 
  Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical experience or degree.
• 
  3+ years experience with PLC's, HMI, Robot, AutoCAD, Motion Control, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, and/or Vision Systems
• 
  Employee is skilled in using associated PC software including Microsoft office suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
• 
  Proficient in electrical CAD to create control device layout schematics and control panels drawings.
• 
  Solid program/electrical testing ability is required.
• 
  Understanding of panel design including back panel layouts, power consumption and hardware sizing is required.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. This position acts as a mentor for other positions in the company to grow functional knowledge.

Travel Requirements

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time for installation support or service on domestic trips usually within driving distance of our headquarters or occasional international trips of typically less than 1 week in length.

  Able to perform general office activities.

  Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.

  Able to move around in a factory environment sometimes in tight spaces in and around equipment.

  Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
