About this role
Position Overview:
We are seeking an Electronics Hardware Designer to join our team in Burnaby, BC. This role is focused on the design, development, testing, and support of electronic hardware used in our IP-based communication products deployed globally.
You will work across the full product lifecycle, including schematic design, PCB layout, board bring-up, and hands-on troubleshooting in a lab environment. This is a practical, hands-on role requiring strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of hardware from concept through to production.
You will collaborate closely with firmware and cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, high-quality products. This position is ideal for someone with 3–5 years of experience who is continuing to grow technically, while more experienced candidates with relevant industry background will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop electronic circuits, including schematic capture and PCB layout
- Perform board bring-up, validation, and testing of new hardware designs
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues in a lab environment
- Collaborate with firmware and cross-functional teams to ensure successful system integration
- Support product development from concept through production and ongoing maintenance
- Develop and improve test methods and fixtures for manufacturing
- Maintain and enhance existing hardware designs
Qualifications:
- Degree, diploma, or equivalent experience in electronics or electrical engineering
- Experience with electronic circuit design and PCB layout
- Strong hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscope, multimeter, etc.)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and debug hardware issues
- Ability to quickly learn new tools, technologies, and systems
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ownership of work
- Effective team player with strong communication skills
Nice to Have
- Experience with Altium Designer
- Experience with embedded Linux systems or board bring-up
- Audio or power supply design experience
- High-speed digital design experience
- P.Eng. (EGBC) designation or working toward it
