Engineering Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Engineering Technician is responsible for supporting the safe, reliable, and cost-effective design of client electric distribution systems. This entry-level role works under direct supervision, utilizing established procedures and processes while assisting with data gathering, documentation, and process improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate demonstrates foundational engineering knowledge, strong organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Perform assigned engineering tasks for electric distribution systems under direct supervision.
• Utilize established procedures and software tools to complete tasks accurately and efficiently.
• Assist in gathering and analyzing data from internal and external sources to support engineering designs and project planning.
• Support the development and implementation of internal engineering work processes.
• Contribute to project documentation, reporting, and process improvement initiatives.
• Collaborate with team members and cross-functional departments to complete assigned work.
• Occasionally travel to off-site project locations, seminars, or customer meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor of Science degree in an engineering field from an ABET-accredited four-year college or university.
• Basic knowledge of fundamental engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of personnel.
• Effective organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated initiative, research, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to obtain a Professional Engineer (PE) License in the State of Texas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) designation from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers.
• Basic experience with overhead and underground electric distribution systems.
• Familiarity with computer-aided drafting (CAD) software.
• Technical writing experience or related coursework.

COMPENSATION

This is a full-time, exempt salaried position. Compensation is commensurate with experience, certifications, and qualifications.
