An Engineering Tech II job is available with the City of Fort Worth, Transportation Public Works, Stormwater Management Division. This position within the Stormwater Infrastructure Team will primarily focus on asset management associated with private channels associated with Stormwater Facilities Maintenance Agreements (SWFMA) and City engineered drainage channels. This position reports to the Sr. Engineering Technician assigned to SWFMA program and is responsible for inspecting channels, documenting findings, and then coordinating with private property owners or City staff about maintenance and capital needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or related field
• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible technical engineering experience in the areas of drafting, project design, review/analysis of projects for conformance of established standards, and/or land surveying
• Valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:

• Reasonable knowledge and application of stormwater infrastructure systems, rehabilitation methods, and asset management principles
• Reasonable knowledge and application about GIS, Microsoft Office Suite, and ability to learn asset management software and familiarity with VueWorks
• Moderate written and verbal communication skills

The Engineering Technician II job responsibilities include:

• Conducting routine field inspections of Stormwater Facilities Maintenance Agreement locations and City-owned drainage channels each year to assess condition and maintenance needs
• Identifying problem locations and supporting the development of maintenance and restoration work orders
• Working with private property owners about maintenance responsibilities associated with Stormwater Facility Maintenance locations
• Assisting in prioritizing capital and maintenance activities by documenting field conditions and updating asset management records
• Performing frequent inspections of high-risk or historically problematic channel locations to help mitigate flood risk
• Coordinating with maintenance teams to support the annual maintenance capacity and create work orders
• Serving as visual observer during drone inspections and assist with data collection for areas inaccessible by foot
• Preparing clear and timely inspection reports and communicating findings to engineering, maintenance staff, and private property owners
