Enterprise Architect - Data & Analytics
AI Summary
Translates business and technology strategy into enterprise architectures for data, analytics and AI, steering roadmaps and governing platforms in a regulated banking environment.
About this role
ING Bank NL is looking for an experienced and forward‑thinking Enterprise Architect (Data & Analytics). The Centre of Expertise (CoE) Architecture in Amsterdam is a dynamic environment for architects who are able to translate ING’s strategy and vision into coherent enterprise architectures and guide strategy execution across the bank.
Our ambition is to design and evolve the data, analytics and AI capabilities that power the data-driven bank of tomorrow. In this role, you will influence business and technology strategy, ensuring secure, scalable and compliant platforms that enable ING to deliver excellent services to its customers.
Your role & work environment
As an Enterprise Architect within CoE Architecture, you operate at the intersection of business, IT and engineering. You work in a small team of senior enterprise architects and collaborate closely with domain and solution architects across ING NL and the wider ING Group. Together, you provide direction, coherence and architectural leadership across multiple domains.
You will work closely with a broad range of business leaders, product owners, engineers and IT management. You are supported by a Chapter Lead for your professional development.
Your responsibilities
As Enterprise Architect (Data & Analytics), you will:
- Translate business and technology strategy into clear target architectures, principles and models for data, analytics and AI.
- Execute and steer the global Business & IT roadmap process, including centralised designs and logical global decompositions.
- Design and evolve ING’s data & analytics platform, enabling federated usage by domains while ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and architectural guardrails.
- Manage the complexity of delivering data, analytics and AI capabilities at scale, balancing global consistency with domain autonomy (e.g. data mesh and federated ownership models).
- Collaborate with and coordinate domain and solution architects to deliver integrated, end‑to‑end business services.
- Maintain strong relationships with area leads, product owners and engineers, influencing priorities and architectural direction.
- Proactively identify and initiate architectural improvements, enabling the architecture function to steer early and ensure solutions are fit for purpose, secure and cost‑effective.
How to succeed
We hire people for their potential as well as their experience. Curiosity, ownership and continuous learning are key to success at ING. In this role, you guide the architecture community in applying data and AI architecture across all business processes. In return, we support your growth and enable you to have real impact.
You are likely to be successful in this role if you bring:
- A Master’s degree (or equivalent) and 5+ years of experience in enterprise architecture, preferably in data & analytics–heavy environments.
- Proven experience with large‑scale data and analytics platforms on-premise and in public cloud (preferably with GCP).
- Strong affinity with data architecture, data governance (e.g. DMBoK), analytics and (Agentic) AI.
- A solid understanding of working in a regulated environment, where security, privacy and compliance (e.g. GDPR, AI Act, DORA & BCBS239) shape architectural decisions.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to align and influence across large, diverse and global stakeholder groups, including senior management.
- Experience working in a multinational, agile organisation, with appreciation for different perspectives, cultures and ways of working.
- A professional, reflective mindset, with awareness of personal solution biases and the ability to drive broadly supported architectural decisions.
Rewards and benefits
At ING, we value a healthy balance between work and private life. We offer:
- A competitive salary, tailored to your experience and qualities.
- 24–27 vacation days, depending on your contract.
- A pension scheme and a 13th‑month salary.
- An Individual Savings Contribution (BIS) of 3.5% of your gross annual salary.
- 8% holiday allowance.
- Hybrid working, combining home working for focus with office working for collaboration and co‑creation.
- An informal and inclusive working environment with innovative colleagues.
- Extensive opportunities for personal growth, learning and professional development.

Join ING’s CoE Architecture and help shape the data‑driven, AI‑enabled bank of the future. We look forward to your application.
