Environmental & NEPA Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced environmental scientist and project manager to join our team in Overland Park, KS. This is an exciting opportunity for an environmental services professional to play a critical role in delivering high‑quality environmental services and contribute to expanding and strengthening our environmental practice in the Kansas City region. This position provides opportunities for project management, technical expertise, client coordination, and mentorship while supporting strategic growth initiatives.

Environmental Project Management: Perform project management or serve as a technical leader on environmental projects of varying complexity. Manage project tasks, budgets, schedules, and resources effectively. Delegate work to project team members and coordinate multidisciplinary efforts. Review and approve project scopes, budgets, and schedules. Review complete project deliverables to ensure quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. Assist upper‑level management and staff as a technical specialist or advisor.

Business Development & Regional Growth: Develop project scopes and fees. Assist with business development activities that support the growth of the environmental services team. Support expansion of environmental services and client relationships in the Kansas City region.

Client, Agency, and Public Coordination: Coordinate with clients to understand project requirements and expectations. Perform environmental resource coordination with clients, regulatory agencies, and the public. Conduct public involvement meetings and other stakeholder meetings, as needed. Represent the firm professionally in client, agency, and public settings.

Environmental Planning, Documentation & Analysis: Oversee/prepare primary and supporting NEPA documents including pre-NEPA analysis for conceptual reports and funding applications, categorical exclusions, environmental assessments, and environmental impact statements; serve as an environmental lead to manage the NEPA process and guide the design team through alternative analysis and selection; conduct resource agency coordination and consultation; assist with conducting or coordinating public involvement activities; and preparation and analysis to establish defensible NEPA decisions.

Permitting, Mitigation & Compliance: Perform mitigation, monitoring, and permitting activities. Ensure project work complies with applicable environmental regulations, policies, and standards. Ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures for self and project teams.

Mentorship & Team Development: Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance. Support development of technical skills, project delivery capabilities, and professional growth within the team

Perform other duties associated with the position, as needed

Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science, Biology, or other Natural Science field.

Typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience in environmental documentation, environmental resource management, or related fields.

Ability and willingness to secure appropriate State NEPA certification(s) when applicable.

Extensive knowledge and experience with NEPA regulations and documentation.

Strong working knowledge of all applicable environmental regulations.

Proficiency with GIS and mapping systems when applicable to the role.

Demonstrated project management capabilities or expertise in a specific environmental discipline.

Strong research capabilities

Ability to organize, lead, and perform fieldwork activities in various conditions, lift and carry equipment, and navigate outdoor terrain.

Excellent written and verbal communication, teamwork, and organization skills.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task within a dynamic project-based environment.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Valid driver's license.
