Environmental Technician (Asbestos Inspection Experience)

ASTI Environmental has an opening for a full-time, skilled, detail-oriented, well-organized Environmental Technician. We are looking for candidates with 3 to 6 years’ experience, including asbestos inspection experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete NESHAP asbestos inspections and other sampling of asbestos-containing materials in vacant and occupied commercial, industrial and residential buildings
• Complete lead-based paint inspections and risk assessments in vacant and occupied residential buildings, including the collection of paint chips, surface dust and soil samples
• Complete lead surveys and personal exposure assessments in various settings
• Assist with Hazardous Materials & Universal Waste Surveys
• Assist with Lead-in-Drinking Water sampling
• Assist with Radon testing
• Assist with mold and/or indoor air quality evaluations including the collection of air, bulk and swab samples for mold
• Independently operate sampling equipment and direct reading instruments
• Environmental data management and analysis
• Prepare standard technical reports following regulatory guidance and company procedures
• Interface with clients on jobsites
• Adhere to company policies and safety guidelines, along with EPA, OSHA, and local regulations
• Oversee subcontractors
• Perform abatement oversight, air monitoring and on-site microscopic analysis utilizing NIOSH 582 methods
• May perform soil, groundwater, stormwater, or soil gas sampling
• May perform complex field sampling, remediation or O&M tasks
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• A minimum of a high school diploma required
• Current Asbestos Inspector License and HAZWOPER 40-Hour Certifications required
• Current Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor License preferred
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Proven writing and communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Exceptional time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Familiarity with field and laboratory QA/QC procedures, chain-of-custody protocols, and data management practices
