The Facilities team is looking for a Facilities Technician to support the upkeep, repair, and preventive maintenance of SAS Tervuren facilities and grouds, ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-functioning workplace. Our team plays a critical role in creating an environment where employees can do their best work by maintaining the spaces, systems, and infrastructure that keep our operations running smoothly.

You'll work alongside experienced professionals, solve practical challenges, and help create a safe and reliable workplace for everyone who walks through our doors.

As a Facilities Technician, you will:

  • Respond to maintenance requests promptly and professionally, ensuring a safe, functional, and welcoming workplace environment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and general building repairs across facility systems, structures, equipment and grounds.
  • Support the upkeep and preservation of a listed historic building, surrounding grounds and carrying out maintenance activities with care and attention to heritage considerations.
  • Support the administrative side of facility operations by maintaining records, tracking maintenance activities, coordinating vendors, managing supplies, and ensuring documentation is accurate and up to date
  • Coordinate with external vendors and contractors, helping to schedule, oversee, and follow up on facility-related services and projects.
  • Assist with building security responsibilities, including monitoring facility access, supporting security procedures, and addressing site-related concerns as needed.
  • Support organizing office events, internal moves, furniture and equipment relocations, and workspace reconfigurations to meet evolving business needs.
  • Deliver excellent customer service to employees and visitors by communicating effectively, providing updates, and ensuring maintenance issues are resolved to a high standard.

Required qualifications

  • 2-3 years of experience in maintenance or equivalent role.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work and work independently when required.
  • Experience in building maintenance, facilities operations, or site and grounds maintenance.
  • The ability to perform (or have performed) general repairs, preventative and corrective maintenance on the facilities in a safe, secure and effective way in a professional workplace environment.
  • Experience working with vendors and contractors, including coordinating and monitoring work activities.
  • Customer-focused mindset with excellent communication and service skills.
  • Ability to work at heights using ladders, lifts, other elevated access equipment and perform physical tasks, including moving equipment, furniture, and supplies.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
