Fall 2026 Field Engineering Intern - Austin, TX

About the role

Join our Field Operations team in Austin as we support the manufacturing, installation, maintenance, and operation of all Aalo projects. Over a 12‑ to 16‑week term you will work with multiple other teams to support the upcoming Aalo-0 and Aalo-X projects while gaining daily mentorship on the shop‑floor as well as field operations experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in research and logistics for special projects.

• Travel on-site to support operations.

• Work with design engineers and manufacturing on realizing designs in the shop and in the field.

Required Qualifications

• Growth mindset and positive attitude
• Completed Bachelors in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering (or closely related field).
• Air travel compliant form of ID and valid Driver's License.
• Physically fit for duty – capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods of time while wearing PPE.
• Able to work full‑time, on‑site in Austin TX, for at least 12 consecutive weeks.

• Able to Travel (at Aalo’s expense) to out of state locations in the continental U.S. for up to two weeks at a time.

• Must provide own housing and daily transportation to the Austin facility; on‑site parking is available.

• Some tasks involve standing, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 25 lbs while wearing PPE.
• Basic familiarity with powered and manual tools.
  
  

Preferred Qualifications

• GPA of 3.4+.

• CAD familiarity.

• Hands‑on engineering experience (course projects, research, internships, student shop, or personal builds).

• Hands on experience with power tools and heavy equipment operation.

• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technicians in a fast‑paced shop environment.
