Fiber Splicer - Lithonia, GA

Job Overview:

Job Responsibilities** *

Perform fusion and mechanical splicing of fiber optic cables (single-mode and multi-mode) in various environments (aerial, underground, and inside plant).

* Interpret and understand fiber optic network designs, schematics, and splice diagrams.

* Test fiber optic cables for continuity, loss, and reflectivity using OTDR, power meters, and light sources.

* Troubleshoot and repair fiber optic cable breaks, damage, and connectivity issues.

* Install and terminate fiber optic connectors, closures, and distribution panels.

* Prepare detailed splice reports, test results, and as-built documentation.

* Operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized fiber optic equipment.

* Adhere to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations, including trenching and confined space protocols.

* Work independently or as part of a team to meet project deadlines and quality standards.

* Communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, and clients.

* Participate in on-call rotations for emergency repairs as required.

* Maintain company vehicles and equipment in good working order.

Job Qualifications**

* High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in fiber optics is highly preferred.

* Minimum of 2 years of experience in fiber optic splicing and testing.

* Proficient in reading and interpreting fiber optic splice diagrams and schematics.

* Demonstrated experience with fusion splicers, cleavers, OTDRs, power meters, and light sources.

* Strong understanding of fiber optic theory, cable types, and industry best practices.

* Ability to work in various weather conditions and environments, including elevated heights, confined spaces, and remote locations.

* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL may be required depending on location.

* Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment (up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks. * Strong commitment to safety and quality workmanship.

* Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
