About this role
The company is seeking a meticulous and experienced Field Architect to join the Jabali Towers site team. This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on translating design excellence into construction reality. The Field Architect will be the on-site custodian of the architectural design intent, responsible for the day-to-day inspection and quality control of all architectural works, from the building envelope to the finest interior details.
On-Site Design Integrity & Quality Assurance:

Serve as the primary on-site custodian of the architectural design intent, ensuring all works are executed in precise accordance with the approved drawings, specifications, and quality benchmarks.

Conduct rigorous daily inspections of all architectural works, including facade and curtain wall installation, waterproofing, blockwork, plastering, and all interior finishes (tiling, flooring, joinery, painting).

Implement and enforce the project's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program for all architectural components, managing the approval process for material samples and full-scale mock-ups.

Review and provide technical approval for contractor submittals, including shop drawings, method statements, and material data sheets for all architectural elements.

Proactively identify and resolve discrepancies between the design documents and site conditions, ensuring any necessary changes are properly documented and approved without compromising design quality.
Technical Coordination & Problem-Solving:

Interpret complex architectural drawings and details to provide clear guidance to the contractor's site team.

Liaise directly with the lead architectural consultant to manage and resolve technical queries (RFIs) in a timely manner.

Coordinate closely with the MEP and Structural field engineers to ensure the correct installation of service penetrations, in-wall/in-slab services, and partition set-outs relative to the structure.

Assist in maintaining accurate site records, including daily progress reports, inspection logs, and photographic evidence of the works.
Safety & Compliance:

Champion a culture of safety for all architectural works, with a particular focus on facade installation, scaffolding, and work in common areas and finished spaces.

Ensure all architectural installations are in full compliance with Kenyan building codes, local authority regulations, and international best practices.

Monitor contractor operations to ensure strict adherence to approved health and safety plans and procedures.
Requirements
Hard skills and experience:

Education: A bachelor's degree in Architecture from an internationally recognized university is essential.

Experience: A minimum of 10-15 years of direct, post-graduate experience as a site-based architect on large-scale construction projects. A proven track record on high-rise buildings with high-end finishes is mandatory.

Industry Background: Extensive hands-on experience working for major international main contractors, construction supervision consultants, or architectural firms with a strong site supervision presence is critical.

International Exposure: Demonstrable, hands-on international project experience in challenging construction environments is essential.

Technical Proficiency: Expert knowledge of building construction, with specialized expertise in facade systems (curtain walls, cladding), waterproofing details, and high-quality interior finishing. Must possess an exceptional ability to read and interpret detailed architectural drawings.

Software Proficiency: Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit is required for reviewing shop drawings. Experience with Bluebeam Revu or similar markup software is advantageous.
