The Field Mechanic position is responsible for vehicle/equipment inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of vehicles and equipment.
Main Job Tasks & Responsibilities
- Conducts vehicle/equipment inspections
- Conducts preventative maintenance and repair on vehicle/equipment
- Identifies, diagnoses, and repairs mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
- Evaluates equipment failures, determines cause and completes timely and effective repairs
- Uses equipment repair manuals and orders parts for repairs
- Other tasks assigned as needed
Skills & Requirements
- Possesses mechanical/electrical/hydraulic knowledge on various types of construction equipment
- Self-motivated, responsible, able to work in all weather conditions
- Excellent problem solving and diagnostic ability
- Strong communication skills
- Moderate computer skills
- Must have working knowledge of various equipment diagnostic software
- Welding skills a plus
- Must be able to stay out of town as required
- Safe clean driving record
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on equipment repair
- Dealer or manufacturer training desirable
- Must have Class B CDL at minimum
