Field Service Technician (HVACR)

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Field Service Technician (HVACR) based in Canada.

This remote field service role supports HVACR products, controls, and commissioning activities across new installations, retrofits, and existing sites. You will troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues while working directly with customers and field partners. The position combines hands-on technical work with customer service, system commissioning, and problem resolution. You will help ensure HVACR and control systems operate reliably, safely, and efficiently across a range of commercial environments. The role offers significant autonomy, with travel of up to 70% across Canada and occasional travel to the United States. You will also contribute to system improvements, project documentation, and the successful delivery of field service solutions.

• Troubleshoot and resolve HVAC mechanical, electrical, and control-related issues in the field.

• Support service activities, commissioning, and startup for new installations, retrofit projects, and existing customer sites.

• Communicate professionally with customers upon arrival and departure from job sites, maintaining strong relationships and high levels of customer satisfaction.

• Meet regularly with customers to understand operational challenges, identify recurring issues, and develop familiarity with their systems.

• Clearly explain completed service work, outstanding issues, recommended improvements, system upgrades, and potential replacement opportunities.

• Identify and promote appropriate add-on service work and system enhancements when they can improve customer operations.

• Manage assigned service activities efficiently while meeting expected timelines, quality standards, and customer requirements.

• Assist with loading, configuring, and commissioning system- and network-level controllers as required.

• Validate overall system functionality and troubleshoot issues in collaboration with subcontractors, trades, and other project stakeholders.

• Communicate field changes and relevant technical information to project teams to support accurate as-built drawings and software updates.

• Maintain awareness of current safety bulletins, field change notices, and applicable safety requirements.

• Perform all work in accordance with established safety procedures and published guidelines.

• Support customers and internal teams by providing clear technical information and practical recommendations.

Requirements:

• Associate's degree or equivalent qualification from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

• At least 2 years of experience working with HVAC controls or building automation systems, including commissioning and startup activities.

• Strong computer skills and the ability to work effectively with technical systems and software.

• Practical understanding of HVACR mechanical, electrical, and control systems.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization professionally and ethically when working with customers and external contacts.

• Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer-service abilities.

• Ability to work independently in a remote field-based environment while managing multiple service assignments.

• Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including up to 70% travel within Canada and occasional overnight travel.

• Authorized to work in Canada and travel to the United States without requiring current or future sponsorship.

• A two-year degree in electronics, mechanical systems, or a related technical discipline is preferred.

• Approximately 2 years of experience installing electronic and/or mechanical systems is preferred.

• 313A certification is preferred.

• Bilingual English/French skills are preferred.
