Finance and Administration Officer

About the Role

Our client is a small, fast-growing Australian business operating across multiple entities, with an international supply-chain team based in China. As the business has scaled, it's outgrown a purely external bookkeeping setup and is ready to bring day-to-day finance in-house with a dedicated, hands-on hire. This is a chance to own the books for a real, growing business — not just process transactions, but actually improve how the finance function runs.

What You'll Do

• Own day-to-day bookkeeping and reconciliation in Odoo and Xero, including weekly bank reconciliation and the accounts payable cycle.

• Run payroll and superannuation through MYOB, keeping employee and contractor records accurate.

• Deliver month-end close — trial balances, reconciliations, and entity-level profit & loss reporting.

• Flag tax-relevant transactions and prepare clean workpapers for the external accounting firm you'll liaise with directly.

• Spot inefficiencies and build the fix straight into Odoo — reconciliation rules, scheduled actions, recurring journal entries.

• Provide light, occasional follow-up on outstanding payments (most of this is already automated).

• Manage shared finance and admin inboxes, with room to take on more as the role grows.

What You'll Bring

• Hands-on, real-world Odoo experience — this is the single most important thing we're looking for.

• 3+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience, and you're comfortable owning your workload with minimal day-to-day supervision.

• MYOB payroll experience, including Australian superannuation obligations.

• Strong written and spoken English — you'll be talking directly with the business owner and an external accounting firm.

• A proactive streak: you flag issues before you're asked, and you double-check your own work.

Nice to Have

• Xero experience alongside Odoo.

• Exposure to multi-entity bookkeeping.

• Familiarity with Australian GST, BAS, or ATO compliance concepts.

• A CPA or equivalent accounting qualification.
