Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 - 4:30 pm.
Salary: Starting from $37.51 an hour – Depending on skills and experiences.

About the Role:

Join Sq'éwqel (Seabird Island Band) as a Financial Analyst and play a key role in supporting the financial health and sustainability of our organization. Reporting to the Comptroller, you will provide financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and accounting support that helps drive informed decision-making across departments. This is an exciting opportunity for a finance professional who is passionate about delivering meaningful insights, improving processes, and contributing to a community-focused organization that values collaboration, accountability, and cultural respect.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
• Analyze financial and statistical data to support organizational decision-making.
• Prepare financial reports, summaries, and supporting documentation.
• Conduct reconciliations, cost analysis, and overhead allocations.
• Perform full-cycle accounting for assigned programs or ventures.
• Assist with year-end processes, audits, and financial statement preparation.
• Coordinate financial information for corporate and charitable tax filings.
• Partner with department leaders to monitor budgets and expenditures.
• Collaborate with auditors, funding agencies, and internal stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to improve financial systems, reporting, and processes.

About You:

You are a detail-oriented and analytical finance professional with experience in financial reporting, budgeting, and full-cycle accounting. You enjoy working with data to solve problems, identify trends, and support strategic decision-making. You thrive in collaborative environments, build strong relationships with stakeholders, and bring a commitment to integrity, professionalism, and continuous improvement. Experience working with Indigenous communities or a genuine interest in supporting First Nations organizations is considered a strong asset.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum three years of progressive financial analysis experience.
• Experience with full-cycle accounting and financial reporting.
• Knowledge of accounting systems and financial technologies.
• Strong analytical, planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
• Commitment to ethical financial practices and confidentiality.
• Valid Class 5 driver's licence and reliable transportation.
  

Assets

• Experience working in a non-profit, public sector, or First Nations environment.
• Experience supporting Indigenous communities through finance, accounting, or financial planning.
• Knowledge of First Nations cultures, traditions, and community dynamics.
• Understanding of culturally safe practices and Indigenous perspectives.
