About this role

As a Fleet Performance Superintendent at BSM, you will be responsible to monitor and provide timely advice for improving the Operational Performance of the fully managed fleet using all available resources for optimising efficiency, reliability and competitiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitors and supports the Company’s drive towards its goals in technical reliability and energy efficient operation, thereby assisting its Clients achieve and maintain their competitive edge.

  • Helps develop the Company’s proprietary software platform using existing methodologies as directed by supervisor.

  • Monitors and refines modelling methods so as to ensure the software platform always maintains BSM’s lead among competitors.

  • Explores software and hardware solutions that can improve the reporting, modelling and analysis quality.

  • Ensures the implementation of the performance monitoring system across the fleet.

  • Monitors adherence of the ships to predefined reporting frequency and quality standards. Provides guidance and support to the ship’s staff as required.

  • Provides support and guidance to the SMC wherever retrofitting of equipment is required and follows up the installation & implementation process.

  • Provides expert advice to the responsible SMC based on the performance analysis results.

  • Provides regular reports to Fleet Management.

  • Provides suggestions for expanding the performance monitoring portfolio.

  • Supports the SMCs with Client specific performance monitoring systems, issuing formal guidance wherever required.

  • Supports the COO office team with Analysis Reports related to the fleet’s performance.

  • Supports S.M.C. and Clients with the selection of Makers at the newbuilding stage by providing advice based on documented performance records.

Qualifications & Experience

  • MSc in Marine Engineering and/or Naval Architecture or equivalent

  • Preferably 1 year in the technical department of a ship management/owningcompany,shipyard,researchfacilityorClassification society

  • Experience with model tests, shop tests and/or sea trials considered a big advantage

  • Minimum of five years’ sailing experience

  • Very strong analytical skills

  • High IT proficiency, preferably with programming knowledge

  • Very good project management and organisational skills

  • High level of organisation, attention to detail, and problem-solving ability
