Food Prep

This position is a part-time position working Monday - Friday, approximately 25 hours a week. You will be working closely with the Nutrition Director, Nutrition Manager, Production Assistant and other Food Prep Associates.

What you will be doing:

Duties to be performed shall include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Organize and maintain kitchen environment for appropriate job performance.

2. Daily prep and set up of Café.

3. Prepare salad items for Café.

4. Dissemble and clean the salad bar and hot food area. Label and store salad bar items in a safe manner.

5. Assist Chef in all manner of food production as directed.

6. Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures.

7. Maintain sanitation control procedures.

8. Maintain kitchen area and equipment in a clean and sanitary manner in compliance with local health code.

9. Assist with dishwashing duties.

10. Must be certified in CPR, AED and first aid and maintain certifications.

11. Attend team and organization meetings.

12. Perform other duties as assigned by Nutrition Manager/Nutrition Director.

EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate; one year’s experience in food preparation and service. Post-high school food service training is desirable. Experience working with volunteers and older adults.

SKILLS:

1. Possesses good verbal and written communication skills.

2. Ability to follow directions.

3. Self-starter: ability to work alone.

4. Basic food preparation.

5. Basic math skills.

6. Ability to stand for extended periods, walk, and lift a minimum of 35 lbs.

7. Strong organizational skills

8. Able to relate well to older adults and volunteers.

9. Possesses a valid driver’s license to operate motor vehicles for 50 North purposes.

10. Ability to drive safely.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Physical job requirements include, but are not limited to the following:

1. Remain in stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.

2. Ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.

3. Ability to move equipment or boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.

4. Ability to arrive at work on time.

5. Have a valid driver’s license.

6. Move about accomplishing tasks.
