Forward Deployed Engineer

About the role

This role owns deployment and iteration of the product in real operational environments. The person in this role will embed with customers (military and police units), scope work with them, build the solution, and iterate based on feedback. Work spans the full audio pipeline: preprocessing degraded radio signals, voice activity detection, diarisation, domain fine-tuning, and shipping under tight on-prem constraints with no internet connectivity.

Responsibilities:

- Own the end-to-end audio processing pipeline for tactical radio and voice channels, including signal preprocessing, voice activity detection, and diarisation

- Build and maintain benchmarks to measure model performance on degraded, noisy, jargon-heavy audio in operational conditions

- Fine-tune models to the military/police domain and specific unit workflows

- Build and maintain bespoke audio streaming and real-time voice systems that bridge analog radio, VoIP, chat, email, and phones into software

- Deploy and maintain software in on-prem, air-gapped, resource-constrained environments with no internet connectivity

- Integrate the product with existing Battlefield Management Systems and Command-and-Control systems via API

- Work directly with customers (French special forces, Ukrainian officers, European armed forces) to scope requirements, gather feedback, and iterate on the product

- Explain complex technical systems clearly to non-technical stakeholders and end-users in operational settings

Requirements:

- EU citizenship (strict right to work requirement for defense work)

- Professional proficiency in English and either French or Polish (French required for customer interaction with French units)

- Software engineering experience building real-time or low-latency systems in production

- Hands-on experience with audio processing, audio streaming, or voice systems (radio, VoIP, telephony, or similar)

- Experience deploying and maintaining software in on-prem, air-gapped, or resource-constrained environments

- Comfortable working directly with end-users in high-stakes, ambiguous operational environments

- Able to work on-site in Paris or Warsaw

- Not seeking fully remote work

Technical environment you will work in

- On-prem, air-gapped deployments with no internet connectivity

- Battlefield Management Systems and Command-and-Control systems (BMS/C2 agnostic)

- Sovereign cloud infrastructure (Bleu, S3NS, Delos, SAP/Deutsche Telekom landscape)

- Team includes PhDs and experts in AI, voice technology, and network infrastructure from cloud giants and defense primes
