Freelance Senior Accountant (Interim – International Scope)

We are currently looking for an experienced and hands-on Interim Freelance Senior Accountant to temporarily join our finance team and provide interim coverage for a colleague who is on long-term leave. In this role, you will take full ownership of the entire spectrum of accounting activities and play a key role in the periodic and yearly financial closing process. What you will do

• Take full ownership of day-to-day accounting (A to Z), including purchase and sales invoicing, bank reconciliations, and journal entries.

• Manage payroll accounting, amortizations, depreciations, accruals and other transactional entries.

• Lead periodic and yearly closing processes, ensuring completeness and timeliness.

• Maintain compliance with local VAT regulations and stay updated on legislative changes.

• Coordinate with external partners for VAT and CIT filings, annual accounts, and consolidation tasks.

• Support statutory audit processes and ensure documentation is complete and audit-ready.

• Provide guidance to team members to safeguard transactional accuracy.

• Work closely with the Controlling team on financial reporting and analytical tasks.

• Manage and execute accounting activities for multiple entities within an international scope.

• Offer expertise and support on complex accounting matters.

Who you are

• A hands-on accounting professional with a comprehensive understanding of financial operations from A to Z.

• Detail-oriented and highly accurate, with a proactive mindset and strong sense of responsibility.

• Comfortable in a fast-paced, international environment where multiple entities and deadlines coexist.

• A collaborative team player with strong communication skills, dedicated to supporting colleagues and external partners.

• Knowledgeable in local tax laws, statutory reporting requirements, and international financial standards (IFRS).

• Technically capable, especially when working with ERP systems (NetSuite experience is a plus).

• Adaptable, solution-focused, and motivated to drive efficiency and reliability in every aspect of accounting.

• Fluent in English; good knowledge of Dutch and German are a plus.
