Freelance Senior Test Analyst

Your role

As a Senior Test Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring software quality across complex IT projects.

Your responsibilities:

• Analyze functional requirements, identify risks, and translate these into structured test scenarios and cases aligned with project objectives and resources.

• Define a test approach in line with the overall test strategy, collaborating closely with other senior test analysts and project stakeholders.

• Ensure milestones are met and test cases are well-prioritized and robust.

• Actively participate in both preparation and execution phases: validate software quality, perform manual and automated testing at various levels, analyze CI/CD results, and functionally review deliverables to assess test coverage and product quality.

• Track deviations, identify inefficiencies, and propose improvements.

• Communicate test results and recommendations clearly and transparently to stakeholders and test coordinators.

• Maintain accurate test documentation, process descriptions, and use cases.

• Serve as a bridge between business, technical teams, and users—advocating for the value of test cases, aligning with other tribes, and influencing requirements quality through static reviews.

• Coach, guide, and support junior testers within the project or tribe, fostering quality, knowledge sharing, and continuous process improvement.

Required Experience

Hard skills:

• Minimum 7 years’ experience in a similar role.

• In-depth knowledge of test methodologies, tasks, and processes; ISTQB Foundation or Advanced certification is a plus.

• Experience with test management tools (e.g., Testlink, Zephyr).

• Experience with issue & project management tools (e.g., Jira).

• Familiarity with collaboration tools (e.g., Confluence).

• Experience with test automation tools (e.g., Cypress, JUnit5).

• Basic understanding of development practices & test paradigms such as CI and TDD.

• Basic knowledge of UML, Java, SQL, and version control (git/svn)

Soft skills:

• Strong relational and communication skills to engage stakeholders and translate technical findings.

• Ability to coach and mentor junior testers.

• Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

• Collaborative mindset to work effectively with both technical and business teams.

• Dutch and/or French native speaker, fluent in English (both written and spoken).
