About this role
About Firefly
Firefly is building a new standard for safety and security.
Today, the technology meant to protect people is often fragmented. Cameras, panic buttons, radios, maps and communication systems all produce information, but rarely work together. When something happens, people are still left connecting the dots.
We're changing that.
Firefly brings hardware, software and AI together in one connected system, helping teams understand what's happening and coordinate what happens next. We combine purpose-built hardware with Ember, our physical AI platform, to connect signals across an environment and turn them into context and action.
We build for K-12 schools, universities, healthcare organizations and enterprises responsible for protecting people every day. We believe technology this important should be thoughtfully designed, intuitive to use and built around the humans who depend on it.
Firefly was founded by CEO Batt Buckley (ex-Verkada), and CTO Alex Penn (ex-Apple). We're an early team with an ambitious goal: rethink how safety technology works from the ground up.
The role
You'll be the second person on our marketing team and the person responsible for building Firefly's demand engine.
Paid acquisition and demand generation will be your core lane. You'll own channels like Google, LinkedIn, X, and YouTube end to end, from targeting and creative testing to attribution and pipeline.
But this is also a broad, hands-on marketing role. You'll work alongside the Head of Product Marketing to bring the broader marketing plan to life across launches, events, content, social, photo and video shoots, campaigns and whatever we're building next.
We're early enough that there isn't always a clean handoff between strategy and execution. Sometimes you'll be launching a campaign. Sometimes you'll be coordinating an event, briefing a creative partner, helping get a photoshoot over the line or turning a strong idea into something we can actually ship.
Almost everything we do right now is an experiment. You'll run tests, learn quickly, double down on what works, cut what doesn't and help turn the winners into repeatable ways to grow.
This is a hands-on role with a lot of autonomy. We're a flat team where everyone owns a lane, but nobody stays strictly inside it. You'll be expected to bring ideas, make the case for them, execute them and tell us what happened.
Reports to: Head of Product Marketing
Works closely with: Sales, our founders, and our creative, PR and web partners
Location: New York metro, in office five days a week
Experience: 5+ years
What you'll do
Build the paid acquisition engine
Own paid acquisition across Google Search, LinkedIn, YouTube, Meta, X and other channels worth testing

Build a continuous testing program across creative, messaging, audiences, formats, landing pages and offers

Own conversion tracking, UTMs and attribution, connecting spend to meetings, opportunities and pipeline in Attio
Report regularly on performance, including CAC, cost per meeting, pipeline and channel efficiency, and recommend where we should invest next
Build the systems, reporting and operating cadence we need to scale paid acquisition
Find new ways to reach buyers
Partner with sales to identify and test programs that can create or accelerate pipeline
Develop and run programs such as executive dinners, roundtables, regional briefings, partnerships and other field marketing experiments
Own the programs we pursue end to end, from concept and audience development through execution, follow-up and measurement
Help shape Firefly's trade show presence and execute the events we choose to attend, including booth experience, meetings, collateral and lead capture
Build clear sales follow-up into every program and measure what actually turns into pipeline
Keep looking for new channels, formats and ideas worth testing

Support organic social and other brand and content initiatives when needed
Work across brand, product marketing, sales, creative, web and PR to bring ideas to market

What you'll bring
5+ years in B2B growth, demand generation or performance marketing, including at least 3 years managing paid media budgets directly
Deep hands-on experience with Google Ads and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, with the ability to quickly learn and evaluate additional channels
Evidence that you've generated qualified pipeline, not just impressions, clicks or MQLs
Strong analytical instincts and experience with conversion tracking, attribution, dashboards and funnel analysis
A habit of asking not just what happened? but what should we do next?
Experience developing and executing in-person marketing programs alongside a sales team
The ability to come up with an idea, get people behind it and carry it through execution
Strong project management skills and the ability to keep multiple workstreams moving at once
An eye for design and a high bar for creative quality. You don't need to be a designer, but you know what good looks like and can spot when something isn't working.
Comfort operating without a playbook and enough curiosity to help build one
A willingness to move between analytical work and hands-on execution, whether that's optimizing a campaign, writing a social post or helping run a shoot
A bias toward shipping, learning and improving rather than waiting for perfect information
Comfort using AI as part of your everyday workflow to research faster, generate and pressure-test ideas, iterate on creative, analyze performance and get more done without sacrificing quality
Nice to have
Experience marketing to K-12, higher education, healthcare or public-sector buyers
Experience in safety, security, hardware, vertical SaaS or another complex B2B category
Familiarity with Attio or another modern CRM
Working knowledge of tools like Contentful, Figma, Customer.io
Experience with ABM or named-account programs
