About this role
A day in the life
You’ll lead Engineering Managers across several teams, helping them set priorities, support their people and deliver software they’re proud of. You’ll work closely with Product and Design leaders to decide what to build, talk through trade-offs and keep customer needs, delivery commitments and system health in view.
Some days you’ll coach a leader through a difficult decision. Others, you’ll work with Principal Engineers to address a reliability risk, remove a blocker between teams or make sure technical debt has a place in the plan. You’ll use delivery and team insights to spot issues early, while giving teams room to decide how they do their best work.
About the role
As Head of Engineering, you’ll lead engineering across a product portfolio and partner with the Head of Product to turn strategy into software that works well for customers and can be sustained over time. You’ll help engineering leaders grow, strengthen delivery and build an inclusive culture where people can speak up and take ownership.
The capabilities you’ll bring include:
- Leadership and coaching: Grow Engineering Managers and build healthy, capable teams.
- Product partnership: Work with Product and Design to turn priorities into clear plans and make thoughtful trade-offs.
- Delivery leadership: Guide multiple teams through complex work and address risks and dependencies early.
- Technical judgement: Partner with senior engineers on architecture, technical debt, security and system health.
- Operational excellence: Strengthen reliability, service ownership and how teams respond to and learn from incidents.
In your first 6–12 months, success could look like:
- Engineering leaders have clear direction, useful feedback and support to grow.
- Teams and Product leaders share a clear view of priorities, progress and delivery risks.
- Technical debt and system health are considered alongside new product work.
- Teams have made practical improvements to delivery, reliability and ways of working.
