HGV Mechanic

The role will involve working in a busy commercial vehicle repair centre as a mechanic working on Trucks, buses and vans

The role will also involve carrying out Commercial Vehicle Tests on both Light and Heavy Commercials in a busy CVRT Centre.

The role may involve attending up to 12 days training in a Third Level University College to become qualified as a CVRT Tester if not already qualified. The cost of this training will be provided by the client.

Requirements

Essential Requirements:

• Proven experience as an HGV/LGV Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Technician.
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy goods vehicles, trucks, trailers, and commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension, steering, and electrical systems.
• Ability to diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Experience carrying out routine servicing, inspections, repairs, and preventative maintenance.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and manufacturer specifications.
• Good knowledge of health and safety procedures and workshop practices.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good attention to detail and a strong focus on vehicle safety and roadworthiness.
• Relevant mechanical qualification or apprenticeship is preferred.
• HGV/Heavy Vehicle maintenance certification is an advantage.
• A valid driving licence, particularly an HGV licence, may be required depending on the role.
