HGV Tyre Fitter

We are looking for a skilled and motivated HGV Tyre Fitter to join our busy workshop team.

Location: Our Transport Workshop - Gloucester, GL2 7ND
Hours: Full-Time, Permanent
Hourly rate: Up to £17 per hour dependent on experience

Smiths is a leading family owned Construction and Waste Management company in the South-West and South Wales.

The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, repairing and replacing tyres across our HGV fleet, ensuring all vehicles remain safe, compliant and operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and replace tyres on HGVs, trailers and commercial vehicles.

• Carry out routine tyre maintenance, including pressure checks and tread depth monitoring.

• Diagnose tyre wear issues and report any defects or concerns.

• Attend roadside breakdowns and carry out emergency tyre repairs when required.

• Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and industry standards.

• Maintain accurate records of tyre inspections, repairs and replacements.

• Support workshop operations and assist with general vehicle maintenance tasks as required.

• Keep the workshop and work areas clean, organised and safe.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience as an HGV, commercial vehicle or tyre fitter.

• Good understanding of tyre safety standards and maintenance requirements.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.

• Good communication and problem-solving skills.

• Full UK driving licence.
