JOB SUMMARY

The Housing Maintenance Worker performs custodial, grounds, and light maintenance work across tribal housing units, common areas, and Housing Department facilities. This entry-level position completes routine work orders, supports unit turnovers, and assists higher-level maintenance staff with repairs and projects. The Housing Maintenance Worker helps ensure that tribal housing properties are clean, safe, and well maintained for the families who live in them.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Perform custodial and janitorial work in housing common areas, offices, community spaces, and vacant units.
  • Complete light maintenance tasks such as replacing light fixtures and bulbs, air filters, smoke and carbon monoxide detector batteries, door hardware, window screens, and similar components.
  • Assist with unit turnover work including cleaning, trash-out, surface preparation, and painting support.
  • Perform grounds upkeep around housing properties including litter and debris removal, weed abatement, and clearing of walkways and drainage areas.
  • Respond to routine work orders and accurately document work completed.
  • Assist the Housing Maintenance Technician and Housing Maintenance Supervisor with larger repair and project work.
  • Conduct scheduled safety checks of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and fire extinguishers, and report deficiencies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of shops, storage areas, and department vehicles.
  • Transport materials, tools, and supplies to and from job sites.
  • Follow safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment at all times.
  • Participate in the after-hours emergency response rotation as assigned.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.



MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in residential or housing maintenance.
  • Basic familiarity with plumbing and electrical fixtures.
  • Experience working in a Tribal or community housing environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with electronic document management systems preferred.
  • Government or Tribal government experience preferred.
  • Certified Records Manager (CRM)
  • Certified Records Analyst (CRA)
  • Information Governance Professional (IGP)
  • Experience implementing electronic records management systems.
  • Experience with grant records compliance.
  • Experience developing records retention schedules.

TRIBAL PREFERENCE STATEMENT:

In accordance with applicable Tribal law and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians (PRCI) Administration provides employment preference to enrolled PRCI Tribal Members. To qualify, applicants must submit valid proof of enrollment. Tribal Members who meet the minimum qualifications will be given preference in hiring, promotion, transfer, and layoff decisions. During the interview process, PRCI Tribal Members will receive an additional 7.5 points (10% of the 75-point interview rubric). Non-PRCI Native American candidates will receive an additional 5 points (6.7% of the total points) in accordance with Indian Preference guidelines.
