JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Human Resources Generalist provides essential support to the Director of Human Resources in daily HR operations and ongoing initiatives across benefits, employee relations, payroll administration, compliance, recruiting, and internal systems. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate HR documentation, coordinating routine HR processes, and supporting timely communication across the organization. This position reports to the Director of Human Resources.


BENEFITS ADMINISTRATION

  • Support employee enrollment, changes, and terminations for health, dental, and 401(k) plans
  • Assist with benefits communications and vendor coordination
  • Assist with cost-benefit analyses during insurance renewal periods
  • Maintain accurate benefit enrollment records and supporting documentation


WORKERS’ COMPENSATION & UNEMPLOYMENT

  • Facilitate workers’ compensation claims, renewals, and audits
  • Coordinate incident report documentation and follow-up communication with employees, managers, insurance representatives, and other appropriate parties
  • Maintain accurate workers’ compensation and incident records
  • Provide administrative support for unemployment claims and annual rate updates


401(k) ADMINISTRATION SUPPORT

  • Assist with ongoing enrollment and participant updates
  • Support 401(k) compliance tasks, including annual census reporting, eligibility checks, and force-out processes
  • Support tracking employee eligibility and assist with enrollment communications and documentation


RECRUITING & HIRING SUPPORT

  • Set up and maintain job postings and applicant workflows in HRIS
  • Assist with applicant tracking and recruiting documentation
  • Assist with first-round interviews and candidate screening as assigned
  • Coordinate interview scheduling and candidate communication
  • Prepare offer letters and other hiring documentation
  • Support pre-employment and new-hire processes through completion


HR OPERATIONS, HRIS & COMPLIANCE

  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records and HR documentation, including policies, performance reviews, corrective action documentation, and PIPs
  • Manage routine HRIS administrative tasks, including employee onboarding, offboarding, document collection, employee profile updates, and time off policies and maintenance
  • Monitor onboarding documentation for completion and follow up on outstanding employee requirements
  • Assist with employee status, compensation, job title, department, manager, and other employment-related updates in HR systems
  • Assist with updates to the Employee Handbook and communication of policy changes
  • Organize and schedule exit interviews and assist with identifying and documenting feedback trends
  • Support DEI efforts through collaboration with Juntos
  • Research and implement further utilization of BambooHR functionality and Google Drive to improve HR efficiency
  • Maintain organized electronic HR files and filing systems in accordance with company practices and record-retention requirements
  • Provide guidance to managers and employees on Chowgirls HR processes, systems, and standards
  • Prepare HR letters, agreements, forms, and other employee documentation using established templates for the Director of Human Resources review


PAYROLL COORDINATION & SUPPORT

  • Coordinate with the Payroll Specialist on new hires, terminations, compensation changes, deductions, and other employee-related payroll updates
  • Ensure employee information is accurate and consistent across HR and payroll systems
  • Assist with researching and resolving payroll discrepancies and employee payroll questions
  • Maintain accurate documentation of payroll-related employee changes


HR MEETINGS & DEPARTMENT SUPPORT

  • Attend and actively participate in required HR and company meetings
  • Assist with preparation of HR meeting materials, updates, and follow-up items
  • Support HR priorities and departmental projects by tracking assigned action items and deadlines
  • Assist with HR recap reports and departmental updates as assigned
  • Represent HR professionally and consistently when communicating policies, processes, and HR-related information
  • Escalate sensitive employee relations, compliance, or policy matters to the Director of Human Resources as appropriate
  • Provide administrative and project support to the Director of Human Resources


COMMUNICATION

  • Proactively communicate work and personal schedule through Slack
  • Attend and actively participate in all required company meetings
  • Respond to internal and external communications within 12 hours
  • Present a professional positive attitude among coworkers, vendors, and clients
  • Facilitate information flows throughout workplace
  • Maintain availability for communication by phone, Slack, and email


HUMAN RESOURCES

  • Maintain employee privacy at all times
  • Keep all Chowgirls information confidential, including internal documents, policies, procedures, recipes, and customer/venue/vendor information
  • Always promote Chowgirls in a positive light at the office and in the community
  • Present a positive and professional attitude and appearance at all times when representing Chowgirls on social media and at all events
