This is an opportunity for someone who understands hydraulics from the ground up but has developed into a commercial, customer-focused leader who enjoys growing revenue, improving operational performance, and leading people and projects.

If you're currently working in hydraulics, fluid power, hose and fittings, maintenance services, heavy equipment, or industrial engineering and you're ready for a broader leadership role, we'd love to talk.

The Opportunity

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be responsible for driving growth while improving the systems, processes, and customer experience that underpin a successful service business.

You will inherit an established customer base, however success in this role will be measured by your ability to:

  • Grow sales and profitability.

  • Develop new client relationships and identify opportunities.

  • Reactivate dormant customers and increase account penetration.

  • Lead and deliver hydraulic projects from quotation through to completion.

  • Improve preventative maintenance programmes and recurring service revenue.

  • Implement best-practice systems and operational processes.

  • Drive CRM utilisation, customer management disciplines and reporting.

  • Mentor and lead technicians while maintaining a strong customer presence.

  • Ensure jobs are quoted, billed and completed efficiently and profitably.

About You

You are likely someone who has progressed through a technical trade or engineering pathway and understands the realities of working on heavy industrial equipment.

You may currently be working as:

  • Hydraulic Supervisor

  • Hydraulic Systems Engineer

  • Service Manager

  • Workshop Manager

  • Fluid Power Specialist

  • Mechanical Project Manager

  • Operations Manager

  • Senior Hydraulic Technician

Or perhaps you've built your career with organisations such as:

  • Integrated Maintenance Group (IMG)

  • Hydraulink

  • HWL

  • BOA

  • NZ Hose

  • Other hydraulic, maintenance or industrial service businesses

What You'll Bring

Technical Capability

  • Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and fluid power.

  • Experience with pumps, valves, cylinders, actuators and hydraulic circuits.

  • Ability to diagnose faults and provide practical engineering solutions.

  • Experience working with heavy equipment, industrial machinery, mining, manufacturing, mobile plant or infrastructure equipment

Commercial Capability

  • Proven experience generating revenue and developing customer relationships.

  • Ability to identify opportunities and convert them into profitable work.

  • Experience preparing quotes, estimates, tenders and proposals.

  • Operational supply chain experience

  • Strong commercial understanding of margins, profitability and operational performance.

Leadership Capability

  • Experience leading teams, projects or business units.

  • Passion for improving systems, processes and operational efficiency.

  • Ability to influence others and drive accountability.

  • Strong planning, organisational and communication skills.

The Ideal Background

The successful candidate will likely have come from a:

  • Fitter Turner background

  • Diesel Mechanic background

  • Mechanical Engineering background

  • Hydraulic Technician background

  • Industrial Maintenance background

and have subsequently developed experience in:

  • Technical sales

  • Customer relationship management

  • Estimating and quoting

  • Project delivery

  • Service operations

  • Business improvement initiatives

  • CRM and database management

Experience with preventative maintenance programmes and CRM platforms such as Infusionsoft/Keap or similar systems will be highly regarded.
