In-House Counsel

Job Overview

Blukers is seeking a knowledgeable and business-minded Lead Counsel to serve as a primary legal resource for the company as we continue to grow.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role for an attorney who is comfortable independently evaluating legal issues, providing clear recommendations, and partnering directly with executive leadership, Human Resources, and business teams.

The ideal candidate has broad legal knowledge and can balance legal risk with practical business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day legal guidance to executive leadership, HR, and other departments.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, including service agreements, vendor contracts, MSAs, SOWs, NDAs, consulting agreements, and technology/SaaS agreements.
• Identify contractual and business risks and provide practical recommendations.
• Advise HR on employment-related matters, including policies, employee relations, workplace investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
• Support corporate governance, entity documentation, resolutions, company records, and regulatory filings.
• Research and advise on federal, state, and local laws affecting company operations.
• Develop and review company policies, procedures, and legal documentation.
• Support privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, and data-protection matters.
• Assist with disputes, claims, regulatory inquiries, and other legal matters.
• Coordinate with and manage outside counsel when specialized expertise or litigation support is required.
• Maintain organized contracts, legal records, and corporate documentation.
• Support new business initiatives and other legal matters as Blukers continues to expand.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license and good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
• Approximately 2+ years of relevant legal experience preferred.
• Experience with corporate, commercial, employment, transactional, or general business law.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial contracts.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Sound judgment and the ability to make independent legal recommendations.
• Ability to explain complex legal issues clearly to non-legal stakeholders.
• Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
• Ability to operate independently in a growing and evolving organization.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous in-house or corporate legal experience.
• Experience advising HR or handling employment-related matters.
• Familiarity with SaaS, technology, vendor, or service agreements.
• Experience with regulatory compliance, corporate governance, privacy, or risk management.
• Experience working directly with executives and business leaders.
• Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
