Innovation & New Product Development Intern

The Company supports a group of businesses operating in the energy trading and technology sectors, providing shared services and operational support across the group. 

We are looking for a curious and highly motivated Innovation & New Product Development Intern to support the team in exploring and developing new products and solutions, with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), AI-enabled hardware, automation and emerging technologies.

The intern will gain hands-on exposure to the full innovation journey — from researching new technologies and identifying business opportunities to developing concepts, supporting prototypes and evaluating potential commercial applications.

This is an ideal opportunity for a student who is passionate about technology, AI, product development and entrepreneurship and wants to understand how an idea can be transformed into a real-world product.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technology & Market Research

• Research emerging technologies, particularly in AI, generative AI, machine learning, robotics, IoT and AI hardware.
• Track developments in AI products, hardware and emerging technology markets.
• Research competitors, startups and innovative products.
• Identify potential technologies that could address business or customer needs.
• Prepare research findings, market summaries and presentations for management.

2. New Product Development

• Support the team in developing new product ideas and concepts.
• Assist with product research, requirements gathering and feasibility assessments.
• Help develop product concepts, user journeys and basic product specifications.
• Participate in brainstorming and innovation sessions.
• Support the development of proof-of-concepts (POCs), prototypes and MVPs.

3. AI & AI Hardware Projects

• Explore practical applications of AI across different industries and business processes.
• Research AI-powered products and solutions available in the market.
• Assist in evaluating AI-enabled hardware, IoT devices, sensors, edge devices and smart equipment.
• Support testing and evaluation of new AI tools, technologies and hardware.
• Document findings, performance and potential use cases.

Qualifications

• Strong interest in AI, technology, product development and innovation.
• Curious and willing to learn new technologies independently.
• Good research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable working with new and unfamiliar technologies.
• Good communication and presentation skills.
• Basic knowledge of AI, programming, data analytics or product development is advantageous but not essential.
