Instrumentation Engineer

The Instrumentation Engineer will be part of the Systems Engineering team and will contribute to instrumentation engineering activities for power plant systems, rotating equipment, and auxiliary systems.
The selected candidate will support the development, specification, evaluation, and implementation of field instrumentation across all project phases—from tendering through detailed design, procurement, installation, and commissioning.
Working alongside senior and lead engineers, the Instrumentation Engineer will collaborate with global teams, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure reliable, compliant, and high quality instrumentation solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Instrumentation Engineer is expected to exhibit strong technical discipline, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset. Key responsibilities include:

• Provide technical inputs to the tendering team regarding instrumentation requirements.
• Assist in reviewing customer specifications and identifying technical needs or gaps.
• Prepare and update instrumentation engineering documents including:
  • Instrument index / I/O lists
  • Instrument data sheets
  • Wiring lists and cable schedules
  • Hook‑up drawings and installation requirements
  • Measurement philosophy inputs
• Support the development and review of P&IDs from an instrumentation perspective.
• Assist in defining instrument setpoints, ranges, and accuracy requirements.
• Coordinate with control system engineers for signal mapping, I/O assignments, and alarm limits.
• Support development of control narratives, cause‑and‑effect charts, and shutdown philosophies.
• Provide instrumentation requirements for DCS/PLC/ESD interfaces.
• Prepare technical datasheets and requisitions for field instruments (pressure, temperature, flow, level, analyzers, valves, etc.).
• Participate in technical bid evaluations under supervision of senior engineers.
• Manage supplier clarifications and ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and equipment inspections.
• Provide technical support during installation and pre‑commissioning activities.
• Assist commissioning teams in instrument loop checks, calibrations, and SAT.
• Support troubleshooting of instrumentation issues during start‑up.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Instrumentation Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within power generation, oil & gas, energy, or similar industries.
• Knowledge of field instrumentation principles, I&C design practices, and relevant standards (IEC, ISA, ATEX/IECEx).
• Experience with DCS/PLC systems and basic understanding of signal interfacing.
• Strong communication skills in English (written and verbal).
• Ability to work effectively in a multi‑disciplinary and global team environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally for supplier visits, FAT, and site support.

Desired Characteristics:

• Experience working with rotating equipment or power plant instrumentation is an advantage.
• Familiarity with hazardous area equipment selection (a plus).
• Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills with a proactive mindset.
• Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate openly and responsibly.
• Willingness to learn and grow within a technically demanding environment.
