About this role

We are seeking a highly skilled Intake Therapist to join our team. The Intake Therapist acts as the first point of clinical contact, assessing, triaging, and diagnosing new patients to determine appropriate levels of care (inpatient, outpatient, or referral). The provide evidence-informed crisis intervention by assessing emotional distress individuals to determine the safest disposition in the least restrictive setting based on the circumstances of their arrival.

Responsibilities:

· Following the doctor’s orders for inpatient admissions

· Conduct thorough clinical interviews to assess mental health status, risk (suicide/homicide), and co-occurring disorders

· Facilitate admissions for inpatient care or refer to appropriate community resources (lower levels of care)

· Maintain accurate, timely medical records according to regulatory, state, and insurance standards

· Provide immediate crisis intervention and supportive counseling to patients in acute distress

· Utilizing de-escalation techniques to handle emergencies, providing immediate crisis support, and ensuring a safe environment

· Collaborating with physicians, clinicians, and families to develop individualized care plans and coordinating transfers

· Auditing clinical records for compliance with hospital regulations, TAC, and JC and ensuring accurate documentation of assessments and medication management

· Documenting all assessments and other patient care aspects in medical records

· Maintains professional therapeutic relationships with staff, patients, families, and visitors. Able to maintain patient confidentiality

· Perform other duties as per the requirements of the organization

Requirements

Qualifications:

Master’s degree and a valid Texas LMSW, LCSW, LPC-A, LPC license in good standing.

1-2 years’ work experience in a behavioral health or hospital setting preferred.

Must complete all new hire orientation and competency training.

Additional Requirements:

Must possess or obtain a valid CPR certification and de-escalation training before completing new hire orientation.
