The Opportunity

We are seeking a Student Intern to support construction and engineering project activities through field observations, project coordination, cost estimating and project documentation. This opportunity provides exposure to construction operations, project execution, safety and quality processes, contractor coordination and engineering support activities. The Student Intern will gain hands-on experience working alongside engineers, planners and project teams while contributing to the successful delivery of construction projects and infrastructure improvements.

What you'll do

• Visit construction sites to observe operations and assist with project inspections
• Support assessment of project requirements, monitor project progress, and assist with safety and quality control activities
• Collaborate with planners, project coordinators and engineers on project execution activities
• Participate in professional development sessions, program presentations and team collaboration opportunities
• Assist with project cost estimating, subcontractor bid solicitation and bid evaluation activities
• Perform material quantity takeoffs and review contractor cost proposals
• Prepare progress reports, change orders, requests for information (RFIs) and other project documentation
• Conduct research on construction methods, materials and industry practices

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Engineering degree program with a focus in Construction
• Completion of at least one academic term prior to the start of the work term in May 2027
• Returning to full-time studies immediately following the work term
• Availability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the duration of the work term

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
• Knowledge of construction project management processes
• Experience with cost estimating, material quantity takeoffs or contractor bid analysis
• Willingness to work on active construction sites
• Demonstrate a safety mindset, in a professional and personal setting
• Exhibit the TC Energy corporate values and incorporate them into work activities and initiatives
• Strong interpersonal and communicative skills to work efficiently in a collaborative team environment
• Commitment to building and maintaining relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Ability to accurately analyze information and deal with ambiguity
• Experience working in a dynamic and challenging environment, and adaptable to changing priorities
• Ability to multi-task effectively, with strong organizational and time management skills
• Reflective and committed to continuous improvement and personal development
