POSITION TITLE: WORKING FOREMAN
DPW – HIGHWAY DIVISION
AFSCME LOCAL 1700 – GRADE 10
FULL-TIME (40 HOURS PER WEEK)
PAY RANGE: $65,139.36 TO $87,560.72 PER YEAR
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced levels of personal management, operate departmental equipment, verbal and written communication and hand laboring skills within the Highway Department.
- Must be able to operate small equipment, such as, roadside mower, sidewalk plow, compressors, etc.
- Must be able to operate equipment such as twelve (12) ton roller, grader, sweeper, front-end loader with two (2) yard bucket, and backhoe
- Act as lead person on work crews.
- Prepare routine records, logs and reports.
- Provide verbal and written daily planning and scheduling of work crews and work assignments in coordination with the General Foreman or in his absence the Highway Superintendent
- Respond to routine inquiries, requests and complaints from residents, contractors, etc.
- Assist outside contractors engaged in construction and repair activities.
- Assist other Town departments with repairs or other projects as required.
- Operate and Coordinate snow emergency response.
- Conduct and train others in the safe operation of power tools and heavy equipment.
- Maintain work area in a clean, safe and operable condition and adhere to applicable safety and health rules and regulations.
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Must be a positive, team player and work in a collaborative environment
Education & Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities will be considered. A typical candidate will have:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Truck Driver CDL Class B license required
- Must have Hoisting Engineer License class C
- Must have working knowledge of constructions plans and profiles.
- Must be willing to learn and advance to a higher grade
