Java Microservices Engineers

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Java Microservices Engineer based in India.

We are seeking an experienced Java engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable distributed backend systems for enterprise applications. You will build high-performance microservices using the Java and Spring ecosystem, with a strong focus on reliability, security, and maintainability. The role involves developing APIs, integrating distributed services, optimizing databases, and supporting modern AI-enabled application components. You will work with cloud-native technologies including Docker, Kubernetes, messaging platforms, and automated CI/CD pipelines. The position offers the opportunity to solve complex distributed-systems challenges in a collaborative, agile engineering environment. Your work will contribute to resilient backend platforms capable of supporting demanding workloads and evolving business requirements.

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, modular, and decoupled microservices using Java and the Spring Boot ecosystem.
• Build enterprise-grade backend services following established software architecture principles, design patterns, security standards, and engineering best practices.
• Develop, document, and secure high-performance REST and GraphQL APIs for communication between internal services, external applications, and AI-enabled endpoints.
• Design resilient distributed systems using techniques such as circuit breaking, fault tolerance, rate limiting, retries, and distributed tracing.
• Monitor and optimize application performance, scalability, availability, and resource utilization under high-volume workloads.
• Design efficient database schemas, manage transaction boundaries, and optimize queries across SQL and NoSQL data stores.
• Develop event-driven architectures using messaging technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Implement caching strategies using technologies such as Redis to improve application performance and reduce system load.
• Containerize applications using Docker and support deployment and orchestration through Kubernetes.
• Maintain and improve automated CI/CD pipelines supporting reliable build, testing, deployment, and release processes.
• Write comprehensive automated tests using tools such as JUnit and Mockito and contribute to strong code quality and maintainability standards.
• Collaborate with architects, product teams, developers, DevOps engineers, and other cross-functional stakeholders within agile engineering squads.
• Contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions, code reviews, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements:

• 4–8 years of professional enterprise software engineering experience, with strong hands-on expertise in Java.
• Advanced knowledge of Java 11/17+, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• Proven experience designing and developing distributed systems and production-grade microservices architectures.
• Strong experience building and securing REST APIs, with GraphQL experience considered valuable.
• Practical knowledge of messaging and event-streaming technologies such as Kafka and RabbitMQ.
• Experience with caching technologies such as Redis and an understanding of distributed caching patterns.
• Strong database knowledge across relational SQL and NoSQL technologies, including schema design, transactions, query optimization, and data access patterns.
• Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud-native application deployment.
• Experience designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines.
• Strong understanding of software design patterns, clean architecture, secure coding practices, and enterprise engineering standards.
• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
• Understanding of observability and distributed-system concepts, including logging, monitoring, tracing, resilience, and performance optimization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex backend and integration issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with experience working within agile and cross-functional engineering teams.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
