About the role

We’re looking for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join our team at Peak Gold Mine, supporting the delivery of electrical projects and maintenance across site while developing into a future statutory-level capability.

This is a hands-on development role suited to someone early in their career who already has underground mining exposure and is ready to take the next step. You’ll be working closely with our Statutory Electrical Engineer, building capability across high-voltage systems, underground infrastructure, and site compliance.

You’ll also partner closely with the Electrical Superintendent and site team to deliver safe, practical outcomes, playing a key role in keeping our electrical systems reliable, compliant, and operating effectively.

  • Roster: Residential 5/2, 4/3 (preferred for continuity) or FIFO 8/6

  • Location: Peak Mine, Cobar NSW

Travel options

  • Residents enjoy a balanced roster and the opportunity to settle into the family-friendly township of Cobar. Relocation support is available, along with a residential allowance

  • DIDO if you live within an 800km radius of the Mine site which includes a travel allowance

  • FIFO from Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne

Key responsibilities

  • Work alongside the Electrical Superintendent to support delivery of site electrical projects and maintenance

  • Assist with ensuring compliance with NSW mining legislation, Australian Standards, and site requirements

  • Learn from and collaborate with the Statutory Electrical Engineer across HV systems and underground infrastructure

  • Contribute to fault finding, system improvements, and reliability initiatives

    Support planning, scheduling, and coordination of electrical work

  • Build strong working relationships with electricians and technicians to support safe, effective outcomes

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

  • Experience working in underground mining environments, with exposure to underground electrical systems

  • Around 1–3 years’ experience in mining, heavy industry, or a similar setting

  • A proactive, team-focused approach and willingness to learn

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a practical, hands-on mindset

  • Exposure to high-voltage or control systems (desirable)

  • Current unrestricted C Class Driver’s Licence
