Position Summary

Credence has an immediate need for a Junior SAP SME to support a mission-critical project focused on the development, modernization, integration, testing, and sustainment of SAP S/4HANA interfaces within a complex enterprise business systems environment.

The Junior SAP SME will collaborate with SAP developers, integration engineers, functional analysts, solution architects, and government stakeholders to support the design and implementation of SAP solutions. This role will assist with documenting technical requirements, troubleshooting interface and integration issues, validating system functionality, and promoting SAP code through controlled development, testing, and production environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation in SAP technologies, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of SAP ABAP programs within an SAP S/4HANA environment.
• Assist with the design and modernization of interfaces between SAP and external enterprise systems.
• Develop or support integrations using:

SAP OData services

REST and SOAP APIs

Business Application Programming Interfaces (BAPIs)

Remote Function Calls (RFCs)

Intermediate Documents (IDocs), where applicable

• Analyze existing SAP interfaces and assist in identifying modernization, automation, and performance-improvement opportunities.
• Work with senior consultants and solution architects to develop SAP-based technical solutions.
• Prepare and maintain technical specifications, interface design documents, data mappings, test scripts, deployment instructions, and operational support documentation.
• Assist with unit, integration, regression, and interface testing.
• Analyze and troubleshoot interface failures, data-processing errors, ABAP issues, and system integration problems.
• Support data mapping, validation, transformation, and reconciliation between SAP and external systems.
• Follow established SAP development standards, naming conventions, security requirements, and configuration-management procedures.
• Support the controlled promotion of SAP code and configuration through development, test, quality-assurance, staging, and production environments.
• Create and manage SAP transport requests in accordance with established change-management and release-management processes.
• Participate in code reviews, design reviews, sprint planning, backlog refinement, demonstrations, and technical working sessions.
• Coordinate with functional teams to translate business and interface requirements into technical specifications.
• Support production deployments, defect resolution, and post-deployment validation.
• Maintain traceability between requirements, technical designs, code changes, test results, and releases.
• Provide regular status updates and promptly communicate technical risks, dependencies, and implementation issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Approximately one to three years of SAP development, integration, internship, academic, or related technical experience.
• Foundational knowledge of SAP ABAP development.
• Familiarity with SAP S/4HANA architecture and development concepts.
• Understanding of SAP integration technologies, including OData, APIs, BAPIs, and RFCs.
• Basic understanding of REST, SOAP, XML, JSON, and enterprise integration patterns.
• Ability to prepare clear technical specifications and other system-development documentation.
• Understanding of software development lifecycle, testing, configuration management, and release-management practices.
• Ability to work within structured code-promotion and change-control processes.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with technical and functional team members in a collaborative environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with or exposure to SAP IDocs, CDS views, ABAP Objects, SAP Fiori, SAP Gateway, or SAP Business Technology Platform.
• Familiarity with SAP interface monitoring, error handling, batch processing, and job scheduling.
• Experience supporting SAP modernization or migration initiatives.
• Exposure to middleware, API-management, or enterprise integration platforms.
• Familiarity with Agile or Scrum delivery methods and tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.
• Experience working in a federal government, Department of Defense, or other regulated environment.
• Understanding of formal change control, separation of duties, cybersecurity, and audit-documentation requirements.
• Familiarity with SAP Solution Manager or comparable application lifecycle-management tools.

Security Requirements

• Candidate should be a US Citizen with secret clearance. Candidate should be able to meet security requirements, including Moderate Risk, Non-Critical Sensitive/IT-II with Tier 3/NACLC/ANACI investigation, where applicable.

Salary Range: $100,000 - $130,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on the selected candidate's experience, education, certifications, skills, and overall qualifications.
