About Valency

Valency Systems is a small, dynamic team of engineers, scientists, and researchers building the global hub for the agentic research era.

We're based in Berkeley, California, and we're building something that matters. If you care about open science, advancing research at the speed of thought, and using AI to accelerate discovery, we'd love to talk.

We're a hybrid team. We come together in person usually 3 days a week at our office, with the option for 2 days of flexible remote work.

The Position: Junior Software Engineer (Full-stack)

You'll learn with the team and ship features across the stack.

What you'll do:

• Build small features end-to-end (frontend + backend). Learn from experienced engineers. Use AI coding tools to accelerate your learning. Pair program. Ask questions. Ship to production. Grow your skills. Help build the future of research infrastructure.

Who You Are

• You have 0-2 years of experience.

• You have a strong educational background in CS or related fields.

• You're already using AI coding assistants. You're a team player with a growth mindset. You're excited about open science and building infrastructure that advances human knowledge.
