DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providepatientswithintraoperativecareinprocedureroomsandoperatingrooms.
- Transport patientsto andfromoperating/procedureroom.
- Preparepatientsforsurgerybydisinfectingskinattheoperationsiteandpositioningthemonthe operatingtable.
- Ensurepropersupplies,equipment,andmedicationsare ready foruse.
- Verifyname,strengthanddosageofmedication.
- Verifypatient,procedure,operativesite,positioningandequipmentcorrespond.
- Responsiblefor“timeout”persiteverificationpolicy.
- Constantobservationforanybreakofsteriletechnique.
- Assistsurgeonduringprocedureswithdutiessuchaspassingmedicalequipmentand
monitoringpatients’vitalsigns.
- Ensurethattheoperatingroomrunssmoothlyandisstockedwithallnecessarysurgicalsupplies andequipment.
- Develop andimplementcareplansforsurgicalpatients.
- Assistinthemaintenanceandstorageofsurgicalequipment.
- Communicatewithpatientsandotherhealthcareprofessionalstoensurecontinuityofcareincluding surgical/procedure delays.
- Apply asepticand sterile techniques to medical instruments and equipmentbefore,during, and aftersurgery.
