This position is located at main campus and travels throughout the week to assigned locations. This is an operational position that directly reports to operational supervisor/manager. The Laboratory Quality Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies (e.g. CAP, ODH, TJC, OSHA, FACT, FDA, EPA, AABB, etc.) in assigned operational area on main campus and the community hospitals. In collaboration with the operational team leaders, supervisors, managers, administrators, Medical Directors, Laboratory Directors and community hospital leadership, develops a standardized operations program throughout the health system. Collects and reviews quality metrics to ensure operational standardization and regulatory compliance. Analyzes data and prepares reports. Reviews and evaluates compliance gaps and implements process improvements. Conducts audits. Acts as a quality and compliance educator and consultant to operational staff. EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in a chemical, physical, biological or Clinical Laboratory Science.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION: None required. COMPLEXITY OF WORK:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three years of experience as a Medical Technologist. Previous managerial or leadership experience preferred. Additional experience in quality assurance or quality auditing preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Typical physical demands include ability to sit, stand or walk extensively. May be required to stand and/or walk for long periods of time. May be driving distances throughout central and northern Ohio. Light lifting may be required. May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, biohazards, radioactive materials, communicable diseases, body fluids, etc.
