Position Summary:
• Perform labor tasks assigned by Crew Leader/Foreman.
• Assist the driver with pre-trip inspection, safe truck loading, unloading, backing, and parking.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Be ready and available to work in uniform at the job site or office as required.
• Implement tasks assigned by the foreman with a positive attitude.
• Ensure safe, legal, and proper loading, unloading, and driving of trucks.
• Complete all assigned tasks and daily work orders as directed.
• Cooperate with crew members for safe and cost-effective completion of assignments.
• Ensure work meets or exceeds company standards and policies.
• Use tools and equipment properly as trained.
• Ask questions if unsure about tasks or equipment use.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Follow daily work orders and understand assignments.
• Operate equipment and tools safely, wearing required personal protective equipment.
• Assist driver with Truck Pre-Trip Inspection and safety checks.
• Ensure truck bed is empty during machine loading.
• Secure all tools and materials on trucks properly.
• Position loads correctly in the truck bed (centered & 2/3 forward).
• Tie down heavy equipment on trucks/trailers (e.g., mowers, trenchers, tractors).
• Use DOUBLE wheel chocks when handling palletized materials.
• Spot the driver when backing up using hand signals and flags.
• Use traffic flags to stop traffic during truck maneuvers.
• Set wheel chocks when the truck is parked.
• Set out orange safety cones to denote the work area.
• Report maintenance and repair needs to the foreman.
• Direct clients to discuss issues with Foreman/Crew Leader.
• Report damaged, broken, or missing equipment, tools, or supplies.
• Inspect, clean, and secure vehicles, trailers, equipment, and tools at day’s end.
• Dismiss crew members upon completion of daily work.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• No prior experience required.
• JSLI offers daily safety and productivity training.
• Bilingual candidates are a plus.
Education & Experience:
• Speak English or willingness to learn.
• Preference for stable work history.
• 6 months industry experience preferred.
