At COP Construction, we build the infrastructure communities depend on. We’re looking for a General Laborer who’s ready to work, take direction, and be a reliable part of the crew.
You don’t need years of experience—but you do need a strong work ethic, a willingness to learn, and the ability to keep up in a fast-paced jobsite.
What This Role Is About
As a Laborer, you support the crew and help keep the job moving. You take direction from the Foreman, handle the groundwork, and make sure the site stays safe, clean, and productive.
This is hands-on, physical work. You’re expected to stay engaged, stay aware, and do your part every day.
What You’ll Do
- Support the crew with underground utility installation (water, sewer, storm).
- Follow direction from the Foreman and complete tasks without delay.
- Keep the jobsite clean, organized, and free of hazards.
- Load and unload materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
- Dig, spread, level, and backfill dirt and gravel using hand tools.
- Assist with trenching, pipe placement, and utility work.
- Measure and mark materials when needed.
- Help rig and guide pipe, trench boxes, and shoring systems into place.
- Work safely around heavy equipment and stay aware of your surroundings.
- Use hand tools and power tools correctly and safely.
- Step in where needed to keep production moving.
- Report issues, hazards, or problems to the Foreman immediately.
What It Takes
- Willingness to work hard and learn the trade.
- Ability to take direction and work as part of a team.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, measure).
- Ability to work safely around equipment and underground utilities.
- Good communication and a dependable attitude.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
- Willingness to travel to different job sites as needed.
- Experience is a plus, but not required.
What You Can Expect From Us
- Safety is non-negotiable—we look out for our people.
- Steady, hands-on work with opportunity to grow.
- Training and support from experienced leaders.
- A team that works hard and has each other’s backs.
- The chance to build skills and move up.
Work Environment
This is field work—outdoors, in all conditions, around heavy equipment. It’s physical work that requires lifting, bending, climbing, and standing. You’ll be expected to go where the job is, including remote locations when needed.
Join the Team
If you’re ready to work, learn, and be part of a solid crew, we want you here.
