Lead Electrical & ITS Field Specialist (LME of Record)

The Lead Electrical & ITS Field Specialist (LME of Record) will serve as the company’s designated Master Electrician under the Electrical Contractor license while working as a hands-on field leader supporting intelligent transportation systems, traffic signal infrastructure, and related electrical and power systems throughout Michigan. This role combines direct field installation, troubleshooting, testing, maintenance, and commissioning with electrical compliance oversight and technical leadership. The Lead Electrical & ITS Field Specialist will provide hands-on direction and mentorship to field personnel while working closely with engineering, project management, operations, and safety teams to deliver safe, code-compliant, high-quality installations and reliable field systems.

The position will report directly to the Field Operations Manager. This position will work out of Integral Blue’s Auburn Hills, Michigan office.

Key Responsibilities

• Electrical Compliance Authority. Serve as the designated Master Electrician of Record in accordance with the Skilled Trades Regulation Act and the Michigan Electrical Code, providing supervisory control, technical direction, and field oversight for electrical installations performed under the company’s Electrical Contractor license.
• Field Installation and Integration. Perform and oversee hands-on electrical installation, integration, testing, and commissioning of ITS and related infrastructure, including service equipment, feeders, branch circuits, cabinet power distribution, grounding and bonding systems, overcurrent protection, surge protection, tower lighting, and backup power systems.
• Troubleshooting and Repair. Diagnose, isolate, and correct electrical and system-related issues in the field, including power distribution, communication, grounding, ITS equipment, cabinets, and associated infrastructure. Respond to emergency service needs and restore system functionality following equipment failures or other field conditions.
• Testing and Quality Verification. Perform electrical testing, commissioning, and quality verification using appropriate diagnostic equipment and tools. Verify installations and repairs comply with engineered drawings, specifications, applicable codes, manufacturer requirements, and customer standards.
• Permitting and Inspection Oversight. Coordinate electrical permitting, inspections, and resolution of code-related field issues. Serve as the primary field resource for inspectors, customers, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders regarding electrical compliance and installation requirements.
• Field Standards and Quality Control. Establish and uphold electrical workmanship standards through direct field involvement, job-site evaluations, and hands-on direction. Identify deficiencies and implement corrective actions to maintain safe, code-compliant, and reliable installations.
• Preventative Maintenance and Field Service. Perform preventative maintenance and service activities on electrical systems, ITS equipment, and supporting infrastructure. Conduct inspections, equipment adjustments, firmware updates, and other maintenance activities necessary to maintain system reliability and performance.
• Field Operations and Safety. Operate and utilize service vehicles, aerial lifts, bucket trucks, testing equipment, and other tools necessary to safely access and service field infrastructure. Support work-zone traffic control and follow applicable safety requirements when performing work in active transportation environments.
• Technical Leadership and Mentorship. Provide hands-on technical guidance and mentorship to field staff, project managers, engineers, and operations personnel. Partner with engineering, project management, operations, and safety teams to resolve field issues, improve installation practices, and strengthen the organization’s electrical capabilities.

Qualifications Required

• Must have an active Michigan Master Electrician license in good standing.
• Must be eligible and willing to serve as the company’s designated Master Electrician of Record and to affiliate their license exclusively with the company’s electrical contractor license, as required under Michigan law (a Master Electrician license may be associated with only one contractor license at any given time).
• Must reside in the State of Michigan in accordance with state licensing requirements.
• Must have a strong working knowledge of the Michigan Electrical Code, grounding and bonding principles, overcurrent protection, surge protection, service installations, and backup power systems.
• Must have experience with traffic signal systems, ITS power infrastructure, communication tower electrical systems, generator installations, or comparable public infrastructure electrical work.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook; comfortable using digital documentation, permitting systems, and electronic plan sets.
• Must have the ability to exercise sound technical judgment, provide direction with confidence, and represent the company professionally with regulatory agencies and clients.

• Must have ability to obtain a First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.

• Must have ability to complete an OSHA 10 Hour Safety Training program, and obtain an OSHA 10-Hour Safety Card.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
• Must be able to work in a confined space.
• Must be able to perform aerial vehicle operations and work at various heights up to 100 feet.

• Must be able to pass a drug screen, physical, and background checks.
• Must have a Valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

• Regular day trips required across Michigan's lower peninsula.
• Various overnight/weekly trips required to Michigan's upper peninsula.
