Are you an experienced math tutor or educator who's ready to take on more responsibility and explore a future in education management?

At Think Zone Learning Center, we're looking for a personable, dependable, and motivated Lead Math Tutor to support K–8 students and help maintain a positive, high-quality learning environment at our Redwood City location.

This is a hands-on role where you'll continue tutoring students while providing guidance to fellow tutors, supporting daily instructional activities, and working closely with center management.

Previous management experience isn't required! We're looking for someone with strong math skills, strong communication skills, leadership skills and a willingness to learn.

What You'll Do

Teach & Support Students

• Provide engaging math tutoring to K–8 students, adapting instruction to different learning styles and academic needs.
• Help students build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and develop a positive attitude toward math.
• Monitor student progress and work with center staff to address learning challenges.

Support Fellow Tutors

• Serve as a resource for fellow tutors by sharing teaching strategies, materials, and best practices.
• Provide guidance and constructive feedback when needed to support consistent instructional quality.
• Help new tutors become familiar with Think Zone's teaching methods and expectations.
• Support a collaborative, welcoming, and student-focused learning environment.

Take Initiative in Center Operations

• Work closely with center management to support daily tutoring activities and classroom coordination.
• Help ensure tutoring sessions run smoothly and students receive consistent support.
• Communicate student progress, instructional needs, and feedback to center staff.
• Gain exposure to parent communication, student management, and daily center operations.
• Take on additional responsibilities as you develop your leadership and organizational skills.

Who We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong K–8 math knowledge and the ability to explain concepts clearly.
• Previous experience tutoring or teaching mathematics.
• Strong spoken and written English communication skills.
• Comfortable working with students of different ages and learning abilities.
• Patient, personable, organized, and dependable.
• Able to take initiative and provide support to fellow tutors when needed.
• Interest in developing leadership and management skills.

Preferred, But Not Required

• Currently pursuing or holding a degree in Mathematics, Education, STEM, or a related field.
• Previous mentoring, training, or team coordination experience.
• Experience communicating with parents or supporting student progress.
• Interest in education management, center operations, or student enrollment.

• Pay: $19–$22/hour.
• Hours: Approximately 10–20 hours per week.
• Availability: Ideally 4–6 hours per day, approximately four days per week.
• Preferred Availability: Saturday and weekday afternoons.
• Location: Redwood City, CA (Onsite).

Lead Math Tutor → Assistant Learning Center Manager → Learning Center Manager

1. Lead Math Tutor — Develop Your Leadership Foundation

Continue tutoring students while supporting fellow tutors, helping maintain instructional quality, and gaining exposure to daily center activities.

2. Assistant Learning Center Manager — Learn Center Operations

Build experience in parent communication, student enrollment, scheduling, tutor coordination, and daily center operations. Develop the organizational and customer service skills needed to support a learning center's growth.

3. Learning Center Manager — Take Ownership of a Center

Oversee center operations, build strong relationships with families, support the teaching team, and take responsibility for student enrollment, retention, and overall center performance.

Advancement opportunities depend on individual performance, demonstrated skills, business needs, and position availability.

As a Lead Tutor, you'll have opportunities to strengthen your teaching, communication, and leadership skills while learning more about the operational side of running a learning center.
