Lead ML & AI Engineer

What's the role?

As a Lead AI/ML Engineer, you will lead the design and development of production-grade AI/ML models, intelligent agents, pipelines, and services that power NDS HD Live Maps, ADAS and IVI maps, including automated data ingestion and validation. Your responsibilities span the entire AI/ML engineering lifecycle. Furthermore you will:

• Provide technical leadership in designing, developing, and deploying AI/ML solutions used to create, validate, and improve high-definition, ISA and ADAS maps.• Own and drive end-to-end AI/ML system architecture, including data preprocessing, model deployment, inference pipelines, agent orchestration, agent deployment, monitoring, and scaling.• Lead innovation and develop solutions based on machine learning, deep learning, NLP, Generative AI, and Agentic AI.• Design and build intelligent agent-based systems that combine LLMs, deterministic tools, retrieval, reasoning, and workflow orchestration.• Build AI/ML systems that are scalable, reliable, reproducible, explainable, and optimized for production environments (on-cloud or in-vehicle).• Implement MLOps practices including CI/CD for ML, model and prompt/version management, experimentation, monitoring, evaluation, and drift detection.• Own one or more AI/ML or data components within the broader mapping, validation, and map delivery ecosystem.• Collaborate with platform, backend, and data engineering teams to integrate AI/ML outputs into map compilation, validation, and delivery workflows.• Work on feature requirements, model/agent behavior, accuracy expectations, evaluation strategies, and performance characteristics.• Conduct code reviews, architecture reviews, and share best practices in AI/ML and software engineering.• Champion efficient, reusable, high-quality code and drive continuous improvement in AI/ML development and engineering processes.

Who are you?

You are a fast learner, with an eye for detail, strong problem-solving and debugging skills, and a passion for applying AI to complex engineering problems. In addition you have the following qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.• Seven to ten years of overall industry experience, including 3+ years in machine learning engineering, applied ML, AI engineering, data engineering, or backend systems with AI-ML components.• Proven experience building and deploying end-to-end AI/ML systems in production.• Strong understanding of ML algorithms, deep learning, data structures, algorithms, and software engineering principles.• Hands-on experience building systems using Generative AI, LLMs, and Agentic AI.• Strong development experience with RAG, Vector Databases, LangGraph, LangChain, CrewAI, or similar AI orchestration frameworks.• Experience with SQL/NoSQL databases and data processing pipelines.• AWS (S3, EMR, Lambda, SageMaker or similar ML platforms) is a plus.• Docker/Kubernetes, CI/CD, Jenkins, and modern software engineering practices.• Understanding of MLOps, LLMOps, AI evaluation, observability, and responsible AI practices.• Able to translate business requirements into scalable AI/ML system architectures and production-ready solutions.

In this role you will join our fast growing NDS (Navigation Data Standard) team. As a member the NDS team, you will have the opportunity to dive deep into how we capture the real world, how this is reflected in our reality index, and work with the team on how this data goes straight into cars with our NDS deliveries. We work with Agile practices and co-operate with numerous different teams inside and outside of the company. Our team delivers digital maps in NDS formats to multiple automotive customers where the data is going straight into cars to power IVI, ADAS and autonomous driving uses cases.
