At Ideagen, we're building the shared platforms that power a global portfolio of products. We're looking for a Lead Software Engineer to lead the technical direction of our API Gateway, a critical piece of infrastructure that connects and enables teams across the business.As the technical lead for the API Gateway team, you will shape the architecture, reliability, security, and performance of a platform relied upon by multiple product teams. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll drive engineering excellence while continuing to code, review solutions, and mentor engineers.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the technical direction of the API Gateway platform.
• Design and build scalable, secure, and highly available gateway services using Node.js.
• Lead technical design reviews and provide architectural guidance for complex initiatives.
• Partner with product and engineering teams to understand integration requirements and enable self-service adoption.
• Coach engineers on software craftsmanship, technical decision-making, and AI-assisted development practices.
• Champion observability, security, performance, and operational excellence across the platform.
• Own delivery commitments, identify risks early, and ensure predictable execution against the roadmap.
• Drive best practices across CI/CD, Git workflows, automation, and infrastructure reliability.

Skills and Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Node.js and API or gateway architecture.
• Deep understanding of API security, authentication, authorization, networking, and traffic management.
• Experience with modern cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based development workflows.
• Proven ability to lead technical direction while remaining actively involved in coding and code reviews.
• Strong mentoring, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
• Passion for building reliable shared infrastructure that delivers exceptional developer and customer experiences.
