Legal Entity Accountant

Join Vontobel’s Finance team in a highly visible role with international exposure, where you will serve as the primary finance contact and Legal Entity Accountant for Bank Vontobel AG’s Milan Branch and SIM Milano. Acting as the key link between Zurich-based Group Finance and local stakeholders in Italy, you will ensure accurate IFRS accounting and financial reporting while coordinating statutory accounting, tax, and audit activities with external service providers.

This is a unique opportunity to combine technical accounting expertise with legal entity ownership and cross-border stakeholder management. You will play a key role in regulatory and statutory reporting, support the Group consolidation process, and contribute to the continuous enhancement of finance processes within Vontobel’s SAP S/4HANA environment.

What would your role be?

• Act as the Legal Entity Accountant for Bank Vontobel AG, specifically responsible for the new Branch in Milan, ensuring end-to-end ownership of the accounting and financial reporting processes.
• Ensure accurate and timely accounting for Vontobel Group IFRS and Bank Vontobel Swiss GAAP purposes for all relevant business transactions and deliver complete monthly, semi-annual and annual financial close activities.
• Drive continuous improvements of accounting processes, internal controls and data quality while ensuring compliance with IFRS, Group Accounting Policies and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate the preparation of statutory local financial statements and local regulatory accounting deliverables for the Branch in collaboration with external Italian accounting service providers.
• Perform, review and monitor accounting activities in SAP S/4HANA, ensuring the correct accounting treatment of branch, intercompany and legal entity transactions.
• Support the Group consolidation process by preparing reporting packages, reconciliations and other consolidation-related deliverables for both entities.

What are we looking for?

• Higher education in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance, or a commercial apprenticeship with further qualifications in accounting (e.g. Swiss Federal Diploma in Finance and Accounting, Certified Fiduciary)
• 5-10 years of accounting experience within the banking or financial services industry with comprehensive knowledge of accounting and financial close processes.
• Proven experience acting as a Legal Entity Accountant with end-to-end responsibility for monthly, semi-annual and annual financial reporting. Experience with managing the Accounting for a Branch is a plus.
• Good practical experience with SAP, ideally SAP S/4HANA, including general ledger accounting, financial close and legal entity accounting processes.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills with a proactive, structured and hands-on approach, capable of operating independently in an international and cross-functional environment.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken; German & Italian is considered an advantage.
