Thisroleprovides hands-on experiencewith nuclear licensing processes, risk-informed safety analysis, and regulatory compliance for advanced reactor technologies.
What you'll do
- Licensing Basis & Methodology
- Assistengineers in developing andmaintainingtheprojectlicensing basis for advanced reactor systems.
- Support preparation and review of regulatory documentation such as technical reports, licensing submittals, and supporting analysis.
- Perform regulatory research on NRC and DOE requirements.
- SSC Safety Classification & Design Interface
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to gather design information needed for licensing and safety documentation.
- Assistinmaintainingtraceability between design information and theprojectsafety or licensing basis.
- Support documentation related to the classification of Structures, Systems, and Components (SSCs).
- Risk-Informed Methods Exposure
- Assistengineers in applying risk-informed and performance-based licensing approaches such as the Licensing Modernization Project (NEI 18-04).
- Regulatory Submissions
- Prepareandreview licensing documents and technical reports (PSARs, FSARs, License Amendment Requests, COL/ML/ESP/CP/OL/SDAs as applicable).
Qualifications
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering(preferred), Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Chemical, or closely related engineering/science field.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Understanding ofnuclear reactor fundamentals (reactor theory, heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics) and reactor systems.
- Skills:
- Technical writing and oral communication.
- Ability to learn complex regulatory and technical requirements.
- Strong analytical problem-solving ability.
- Ability to work collaboratively in interdisciplinary teams.
- Proficiencywith common engineering analysis tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in a relevant discipline.
- Regulatory & DOE Knowledge
- Familiaritywith nuclear reactor safety or nuclear systems design.
