About this role
Village Church is looking for a skilled and creative Lighting & Production Designer to lead the vision and direction of lighting across all Village Church locations. This role serves as the subject-matter expert in lighting and production design, helping create engaging worship environments while developing volunteers and supporting production teams across our sites.
Key Responsibilities:
Lighting Direction & Production Design
- Lead the lighting vision and production design for major services, events, and series launches, including Easter and Christmas.
- Establish lighting standards, philosophy, and best practices across all Village Church locations.
- Collaborate with creative teams and senior leadership to support cohesive visual storytelling and worship experiences.
- Partner with site teams to adapt lighting designs to different venues and technical environments.
Team Development & Training
- Equip and mentor lighting volunteers and emerging leaders across all locations.
- Provide hands-on lighting training and coaching for volunteers and Production Ministry Leads.
- Help develop lighting curriculum and training resources for staff and volunteers.
- Build strong, healthy volunteer teams that encourage growth, ownership, and leadership development.
Technical Support & Systems
- Support site teams with show files, lighting documentation, workflows, and equipment standards.
- Help maintain consistency and excellence in lighting systems and execution across all campuses.
- Work collaboratively with audio, video, and stage production teams to create integrated production experiences.
Work Week
- Part-time: averaging 16 hours per week, up to 64 hours per month maximum.
- Occasional evening and weekend work as required by events and trainings
- Regular Sundays as required by series launches and location visits.
- Flexible scheduling, agreed to in collaboration with the Production Director.
- Tuesday is an office workday unless otherwise approved by supervisor
Requirements
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in live event lighting design, console programming, and lighting systems.
- A creative eye for production design and visual storytelling.
- Experience mentoring, teaching, and developing volunteers or team members.
- Ability to adapt designs across multiple venues and environments.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Experience in church production, live events, concerts, theatre, or related environments is considered an asset.
- Alignment with Village Church’s mission, values, and spiritual leadership expectations.

Benefits
Vacation: 3 weeks/year
Salary: $25- $27/hour depending on experience
