Natural Habitat Adventures is seeking experienced Egyptologists to fill the Local Guide role for our Egypt Terra & Tu Cultural Journeys starting in October 2027. This itinerary is operated in partnership with Great Wonders of Egypt. Local Guides are selected through Nat Hab's hiring process (in collaboration with Great Wonders of Egypt) and scheduled and compensated directly by Great Wonders of Egypt.
Only candidates currently residing in Egypt and legally authorized to work in Egypt will be considered. Applicants who are not currently residing in Egypt and legally authorized to work in Egypt will automatically be disqualified and therefore will not be reviewed.

Deeply passionate about helping guests engage meaningfully with the people and places they encounter, they create authentic experiences that foster understanding and respect. Through their professional, enthusiastic leadership, they deliver exceptional guest experiences and inspire travelers.
Using their expertise in cultural interpretation, history, and regional traditions, our Local Guides will work alongside an Expedition Leader to enrich each journey by helping guests gain deeper insight into the local communities and destinations they visit. They provide valuable context that illuminates both historical perspectives and contemporary realities, fostering a greater appreciation for local cultures, customs, and lived experiences. Skilled at facilitating genuine connections, they ensure interactions with communities are approached with sensitivity, humility, and care.
Our Local Guides engage travelers of all backgrounds through thoughtful storytelling, inclusive communication, and attentive, personalized service. They also prioritize guest well-being, consistently delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining a strong focus on safety.
Many of our guests are seasoned global travelers, yet they choose to travel with Nat Hab because of our leaders’ rare blend of cultural insight, deep destination knowledge, and professional guiding expertise. In the realm of culturally-focused adventure travel, it is our Field Team’s commitment to excellence, education, and cultural conservation that sets us apart.
Our goal is to eventually have all Egypt-based Expedition Leaders. Exceptional Local Guides who demonstrate strong group management, customer service, and cultural interpretation skills may be offered additional training and development opportunities with Nat Hab, including the opportunity to advance into an Expedition Leader role.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- At least five years of professional guiding experience in Egypt and extensive studies in cultural heritage, history, archaeology, tourism, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and guiding background; preference given to those with experience leading multi-day tours.
- Demonstrated experience providing cultural interpretation and educational storytelling, including communicating regional history, traditions, cultural practices, and the relationship between people, place, and identity
- Deep knowledge of and passion for the region's cultural heritage, including its history, traditions, local communities, and the ongoing efforts to preserve and celebrate cultural identity, heritage, and local ways of life
- Ability to consistently deliver engaging, accurate, and compelling educational interpretation in informal field settings, going beyond introductory-level information
- Strong customer service skills with attention to guest needs, ensuring a high level of care
- Work alongside the Expedition Leader to create and maintain a positive, inclusive, and cohesive group environment
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a Nat Hab Expedition Leader, to clearly inform diverse guests on safety, logistics, expectations, and interpretation, as well as communicate professionally and promptly with external partners and Nat Hab internal teams
- Confident, calm problem-solver with sound judgment and the ability to make independent decisions in challenging, dynamic environments
- Professional, proactive, organized, and solutions-oriented, with a high level of integrity, maturity, patience, adaptability, and enthusiasm
- Fluency in Arabic and English required
- Tourist Guide License issued by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is required.
- Photography knowledge and experience providing photography instruction preferred
OPERATIONAL EXPECTATIONS
- Dependable availability throughout the operating season for this itinerary, with preference given to candidates available for all scheduled 2027 departures listed
- Capable of working long hours for multiple consecutive days in a physically and mentally demanding setting
- Must comfortably and reliably meet all the minimum physical requirements outlined for this itinerary
- When necessary, willingness to share accommodations and collaborate as part of a two-guide team while supporting shared responsibilities related to guest experience, safety, and logistics
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This role is compensated by Great Wonders of Egypt. Gratuities are customary and may be provided by guests at their discretion but are not guaranteed.
Nat Hab branded gear as well as meals and any required transportation and lodging will be provided while on assignment.
