The Logistics Specialist will manage customer accounts and daily operations including shipment tendering through final paperwork. A successful Specialist will develop strategies and build relationships with customers and carriers that will optimize supply chain efficiency, increase reliability, and minimize costs. The Logistics Specialist will operate in a role that is highly relationship oriented, operational, and analytical.

Duties and Responsibilities

Plan and schedule transportation for inbound and outbound shipments

Act as the main point of contact for customers providing proactive communication over the phone, via email, and in person as necessary

Provide customers with shipment information and ensure changes to orders are acknowledged and acted upon in a timely manner

Provide quick and effective solutions to resolve transportation delays and complications

Assist with shipment documentation including BOLs, labels, and invoices

Work effectively and collaboratively with all departments and team members

Utilize Transportation Management Systems to track shipment operations, communications, and develop weekly/monthly reports and data analysis

Identify opportunities for process improvement and develop strategic solutions with customers and carriers

Experience and Qualifications

High School Diploma Required

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in logistics, business, supply chain, or engineering is highly preferred

Minimum 1-year third-party logistics experience preferred

Minimum 1-year sales and/or customer service experience preferred

Experience conducting business over the phone highly preferred

Knowledge and Skills

Superb verbal and written communication, strong professional phone presence

Proven ability to work independently and be a team player in a fast-paced environment

Strong negotiation and persuasive skills

Sense of urgency when resolving customer issues

Attention to detail without sacrificing accuracy

Ability to problem-solve and manage multiple tasks in a high-stress environment while hitting KPI’s

Strong people skills including ability to build and maintain relationships with customers and carriers

Determination and tenaciousness with strong work ethic, self-motivation, and sales drive
